Rear Differential

Has anyone used that differential lock yet on your DX3? I may need it come Friday. It's rained every day since I've been at my location in Fl.. I'm on grass/sand saturated in water.. errr..

Other than trying to see if it worked, I haven't used it. When I bought my Diesel pusher, I remember telling my wife in the finance offer that my only concern was that one day we'd be stuck on 3" tall grass when it's wet.

It wasn't two weeks later we had to camp in a field and it rained and the grass wasn't even 3" tall. I had to get a tractor to pull me out.

I'm so glad I have a locker without a tag axle, it'll put more weight on the axle and with the locker, hopefully that doesn't happen again.

Let us know how it works if you need it!

I have used mine. I was in a off camber situation trying to turn up hill in wet grass, the inside wheel just spun. When you lock it in apply the throttle real easy because it will take a partial revolution of the rearend to actually engage both axels. It worked perfect in my situation.

Did you use the locker to get out of that??? If you did, I'm going to sell my Rzr and Jeep and start 4 wheeling with my DX3..LOL.

If you got out of that with just the locker, I'm a happy camper because like I said before, having to get a tractor (it took two) to pull me off of wet grass was ridiculous.

Walt, if you got that out of there using the lock, I shouldn't have a problem.

My Blue Bird Wanderlodge got stuck in the grass several times. I just learned to keep it on the paved or concrete sites and roads... no exceptions.

Yep... live out in the middle of no where in Colorado. Have a quarter of a mile driveway with some uphill grades. Came back home after late spring snow, 5”+ on ground, locked rear end and got up no prob...

Holy cow. I can’t be the only one accused of off-roading my dynamax anymore!

I used mine in Feb when we got caught in a freak Iowa snowstorm that even caught the DOT off guard because the roads weren’t treated. I was not about to join the other idiots having trouble getting up the hill. Probably didn’t need it but was glad I had it

"no sir, we never ever use it on roads that are not improved. Even if there are potholes, we GPS around those locations"....typical response from every customer when there is an issue and you ask "well what did you do"....lol

that's an impressive picture by the way. I have driven the E450 in Canada...they don't salt the roads or bother to clear them, they just gravel them if you're lucky. Had zero issues. 4x4...who needs it.

Yep, @ the River. No tow available, did some digging prep around the wheels & make shift ramps. Fired it up, hit the diff lock & out it came.

Bear in mind, DON'T LOCK THE DIFF ON THE ROAD. It will steer like a logging truck (ie: it won't steer worth a damn). I had an e-locker on my Samurai, and have one on my side-by-side. With the diff locked, your turning circle will double or even triple.

I would say, Only lock when you HAVE to, and unlock as soon as you can.

Ouch.....don’t think anything helps in the red clay, stuff is like glass.

I have a set of deflaters, they would probably have gotten you out of that predicament...you can also purchaser a single deflater, takes awhile but it works...
