rear mounted Gear rack for Isata 5

We are expecting our 30fw in March (hopefully). We want to fabricate and attach a rack for gear (surf boards, mountain bikes, windsurfers, etc) to the back of the motor home without using the receiver. Anyone have any experience with doing this? We are looking at the motorcycle lift racks for ideas. We will be carrying about 200 lbs of gear max. For stability we are thinking to attach to the frame rails but it looks like we'll have to cut holes in the fiberglass

Here's a few pics of friend's racks that are attached to their rigs and a pic of the rear of the Isata 5.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brian Clemmons, any input on this?

I am interested in this too. I pull a toad but don't have a place for bikes. A ladder would be great for some items.

I was wondering about this too. One solution I'm considering is something that attaches to the roof. Then again, I was thinking of using the receiver--which I see you'd like to avoid.

I have a bike rack on the road. Prior threads on adding a ladder but remember the rear window is emergency exit and a ladder would block this.
There is nothing to bolt into behind the bumper. You would have to custom fab to bolt into the frame using the mounting bolts for the hitch. That is pretty far back and would have to be re-enforced to hold weight given leverage due to length.

You could always use something like this and use a receiver rack in the open spot.
