Repair day approaches, Part I
As some may remember (I can’t forget) I didn’t compensate/watch out for the rear tail swing leaving a parking spot and half ripped off my rear cap. Used clear packing tape to seal the external cracks and some urethane foam to re-seal the cap to rear of the house part of the rig so I could go on a 2 week trip. Don’t have a date yet to drop it off but do have several estimates and am waiting for insurance to authorize replacing cap. Not only does it have out right cracks, there are a lot of stress cracks all over.
I’m attaching some pictures of space between the rear cap and this area where you can see the foam. Doesn’t show much above the foam line but what I saw was pretty much like the pictures, no insulation between the cap and the house part of the RV above the foam line. Seems like this would be a good spot for insulation. Have any of you with either the Force or DX3 models had your rear cap off and found any insulation?
Brian, is there supposed to be any insulation there? Would you advise against insulating that area? Foam it or bat insulation secured to not sag? Since the cap is coming off for the repair it would be the time to do this.
Thanks for any insight any of you may have.
