Replaced trailer connector, now no reverse lights

I don't know what type of trailer connector hubby used. Since he installed, have a bulb out indicator on 2016 MB 3500 (2017 Isata 3) and reverse lights don't work. Reverse camera does not come on in reverse as camera is tied to reverse lights, however, the reverse camera can be switched on via the radio.

Is it likely that the new trailer connector is the culprit? Any idea what came on the Isata originally?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

If this started right after the connector installation then yes, either something is connected improperly or maybe a fuse(s) is/are blown.

Do the tail lights and running lights work? If not, check this thread -- it helped me with a similar issue:

This has happened to me on another vehicle. Most likley, when doing the wiring you caused some sort of a short. Check fuses, not just reverse lights but all the lights. Fixed it for me when i did it!

start by checking fuses in the MH, then...
hopefully you have a voltmeter... measure the newly installed plug for voltage at the pins when those lights should be on... if no voltage then check those connections that are made in the plug

It is quite possible that when hubby replaced the trailer plug he followed the standard 7 pin wiring diagram which may not apply. As Pretty Woman once said " Big Mistake". Using a volt meter he may have to determine what terminals do which function at the tow vehicle and then wire the trailer connection accordingly. I just went through this process last month and began to understand what owners mean when they write "no wiring diagram is available because there is no standard in the factory". This is not hubby's fault. I suggest a nice supper and a good bottle of wine might be in order.

Not a trailer, its a motorhome and the plug comes from the chassis OEM, we just extend it.
