I got a Scan D last summer & used it on a trip last fall to Texas to monitor my fuel mileage. It has a lot of other features that can help you diagnose problems but so far I've used it primarily for mileage. I think I bought it on ebay & it actually came from Advanced Auto or Auto Zone. It was the lowest price I could find. Other systems are available which provide more info, but they also cost a lot more. This is a good value for what it does.

I’m going to using a BlueFire 9-Pin J1939/J1708 Bluetooth Data Adapter. I can view all of the parameters or set it up for what I may want to view on any computer device with Bluetooth.

I have used this for a couple of years now, and it has proved it self to
be a great product especially when it comes to reading the fault codes.

I’m about to order one and would love to know how you like it.

Also - how/where does it mount?

Thanks!

Have it installed now and the data it provides is awesome. I have set up my screen to like this picture and seems to be working well so far. I have mine mounted on a suction cup mount on the dash, I built a platform to place items on my dash.

Nice setup Dennis. Nothing goes unnoticed.

360 d video, ScanD, and the dash gauges are enough info for me.

Too much information is distracting for me.

Question Scan OBD II Question

Dennis, great set up you have there, my question is what are you using for the display unit? I just bought one of these bluefly units, I thought I could use my iPhone with the app but the screen is just to small esp for my old tired eyes!
I was thinking of getting an iPad but I really don't need one (unless that's the only way I can use the bluefly unit). There is always something else to buy I guess. Thanks for the feed back!

I just installed my BlueFire last week and then set out for an 1100 mile trip to Dynamax for some warranty work. It worked flawlessly during the trip and the information provided on one screen made it much more user friendly than the ScanGauge it replaced. Thanks Dennis for sharing your screen set up. It was perfect on my trip.

Like Dennis and a couple of others with a BlueFire, I used an iPad as the monitor. You could probably find an older model, used iPad on eBay or Facebook Marketplace for cheap and just dedicated it to your coach for the BlueFire.

Now, I just need to spend the time to learn how to build and modify my own screen! Dennis, feel free to give me a tutorial [emoji6]

Consider a Samsung tablet. I bought a Tab 8A for $125 at Best Buy last summer. 8” screen. They also have a version with a 10” screen.

IPads are superior in many ways but for this application it shouldn’t matter.

Joe,
Glad it worked out for you, if you figure out how to have your air tanks show up be sure to let me know.

I looked for that unsuccessfully. I tweaked your dash just a little this morning (attached) and didn’t find anything suggesting air tanks. Maybe we ought to shoot an email to the folks at BlueFire and see if they know.
