kayak

We fought w/ the same issues. We now have a Sea Eagle 130 inflatable and an Aquaglide Blackwater inflatable-45lb each. Solve the problem for us. The Sea Eagle has factory "Gator Skin' at wear areas for our dogs. Both boats are rated at 550 lbs. of capacity. Each boat folds into a large 85 L. backpack that is stored in our side storage. We carry 2 active receivers, 85 and 55 lb. w/ no problem. We can use the receiver hitch to carry the bike rack and still take kayaks. We looked at the receiver hitch kayak racks, but limits length to 11' and $1800 w/ shipping.
I can not see how you could put a 145 lb. boat on top of a 12' roof and take it off easily. The inflatables are about $1200 each and have proven to be 85% of what our 14' and 15' hard shells performance is.

Sounds like a Hobie Fishing Kayak, which specs out at 148 lbs dry weight, 14 ish feet long, and has a price to match. That is quite a beast to carry without a pickup truck.

Inflatables

This kayak is a peddle. If I can’t move it or get the LoadIt I will check out the inflatables you mentioned. I definitely want a peddle kayak. With the dogs it makes it easier to manage in the water.
Thank you for the reply. Margie

intersection of inflatable and pedal: BOTE pedal kayaks. Don't know if they have enough dog room. They do have an open front section with higher sides.

Old Town

I have a Old Town Pedal fishing kayak PDL 106 and absolutely love it. I am 6’1” and have a lot of fishing equipment and it is rock solid. I can cast standing up in it and it weighs about 100 lbs with pedal. I use a RV Kayak brand rack that works great but I don’t pull a toad.

I ended up buying the outback. It’s lighter. About 85 pounds without the rigging. I’m really impressed with the owner of the “loadit”. He’s careful to make sure this is going to work. I just sent him some more measurements waiting to hear back. I should know if this can be installed.
I,keep you posted. Margie
