Seat Air Leaking

We’ve been dealing with our seats leaking air. They both eventually bottom out after about an hour of driving.

Changed out the tubing and the air switches (Freightliner part 235522-01). That took care of the passenger seat. Driver seat continues to leak.

Has anyone dealt with this issue and if so, how did you finally fix it?

check the ends of the tubing that you replaced. They MUST be straight cut.

You may have to change the couplers with new. Also make sure that the tubing is seated all the way into the coupler

Paper towels and soapy water (windex) makes for a great leak detector.

I have seen the switch itself leak. I am told there are two version...but I have never confirmed that. They are both Freightliner parts.

Was able to use Freightliner's Parts Pro system to find the Seat Schematic and the parts cross reference.

Ours leaked also. It was routed Wrong and pinched line. A couple of couplers and there was plenty of extra hose under seat to fix line.

Ed & Shelley, It's like we have the same RV or something :P. Not only do we share the awning woes but we also have seat air problems. We were driving along last week when the passenger seat air bag just blew. The very loud pop gave us quite a start! It also oddly enough strongly smelled like a cleaner of some sort. At first we thought a bottle windex had exploded under the seat. Now it's a pretty rough ride for the passenger.

BC, can you tell us if the airbag is Frightliner or a Dynamax warranty issue? Our new attempt at a local ForestRiver dealer shop doesn't seem to be able to figure it out.Air

The air ride is Freightliner. We only do the seats that mount to the ped.

I suspect that the seat is actually a Freightliner issue. The seat is listed in their Parts Pro system. Dynamax added the swivel to the seat.

If Freightliner searches "as equipt" based on you VIN they will find the seat listed.

Of course BC can confirm.

Finally fixed the leaking seat issue. Ran extensions and couplings that allowed straight feeds to the air switches. Then used JB weld on the drivers switch air connections and tested with windex. Not the way I would like it fixed but it works on the road.

Drove 1,000 miles so far and my seat is holding its height for the first time since we purchased the RV.

Regarding the awning. The rear awning came out a few nights ago and has worked since. Likely a lose connection. Am only going to use the front awning Incase the rear will not retract due to the lose connection. Something to handle when back home.

Added insight learned.

When removing an airline from the seat switch, be careful to not score the brass fitting when you cut off the air hose. Any scores in the brass air switch fitting will enable a leak.
