Simple Mod To Secure Upper Shelf of Storage Bins

My containers on the upper levels in the storage bins were always shifting and making a mess.

Created an easily removeable restraint to keep stuff on the upper level using some pvc tubing and closet rod sockets. Did all the DX3 storage bins for less than $15.

Thought I would share the idea and see how others have solved this problem.

Nice idea, I like that one. I made a restraint for two of my bins out of a racecar window net. put two hooks on the top that it hooks too.

Sorry Halla I would have posted this long ago but I thought everyone did this. . We’ve been doing this in maybe our last five rigs. Simple is good. My wife has curtain tension rods on her fridge shelves. But hey, I’m a Halla fan and follow your mods.

That’s neat, I have a table that keeps migrating half off the shelf and I’m concerned it will interfere with the slide. Thanks for the post.

It would be interesting to see what other storage bin mods have been done by others, including the main portion of the bins. What storage boxes fit the best and maximize space, etc. I am constantly arranging and rearranging as we travel and learn what works best. Some ideas from you more experienced Dynamax owners (Force, DX3, XL) would be helpful.

Similar approach to Hitch2go’s, but I use these:

https://www.amazon.com/Tension-Adjus...s%2C332&sr=8-7

I can adjust the bar height depending on what I’ve put in the compartment.

Now, that is a good idea too! You can also move bar deeper into the bin if your shelf is not filled up or only have a few small containers...currently not MY status...but I will put that one in my hip pocket. It may come in handy.

I use a $5 cheapo (Amazon) tension curtain rod; works great!

This is not the best pic, kind of dark. But you get the idea. They are race car window nets, screwed to the bottom, two clips on top. They work great Click image for larger version

I like it. Another great application.

I became really motivated the other day to get creative/efficient to make room for my Davy Crockett grill/smoker. DW put me on notice that she was not giving up “her” storage bins, so had to get something implemented quickly cause next week we roll.

We should start a thread and call it “Useful & Creative Hacks” to see what people are doing...sometimes seeing what others have done sparks a new idea.

I forgot to snap a pic yesterday, will try and remember today but I have small tie downs mounted top/bottom that I run a strap between. Not quite as elegant as the net but it works as I've mostly got larger stuff up there like tables, ladders, dog cages, etc.

Enjoy the davy crockett! It's been an awesome addition to our camping kit.
