So what do these things actually cost?
I have been shopping for a motorhome for the past few months and only recently started looking at Super C’s . I have 5 kids and need to pull a toad. It started with the Jayco and my research led me to consider upgrades like the Dynamax. I (unfortunately) don’t have a dealer near me to go see one in person so I have been shopping them online. It seems that the same DX3 or Force HD 37BH is listed for $100k difference between dealers. My budget is around $175k which either gets me close or is about half of what I need. I guess I am just venting but would be grateful for any input or dealer recommendations. Thanks.

Should be able to get into a Force for pretty close to that.

Don't forget tax and license. I could have bought a new toad for the cost of sales tax!

I was thinking the 5 series won’t have sufficient ncc for all 7 of us?

Ah, I read 5. I thought 5 total. 5 kids is a different story. Yes, Force then.
FYI, there are only about (16) in stock across the US right now. The best deal, will be on the 28K chassis and those, only about 4.
Another (3) will be shipping in the next couple of months to Texas.

It looks like a new Force 35DS with the 6.7 engine would go for about $176K with Solar, plus Tax and License. In CA that would add about another 9%.

In the thread "Kitchen Counter Outlet" Halla mentions that he has yet to sell his Force. He has an HD on order. You should contact him.

This might be better on another post but I just have to ask, does it really cost $4k-$5k A YEAR to register in CO? That is unbelievable! I'm in NY and now I'm going to look up what I pay. It can't be a whole lot or I would know off the top of my head.

I think he was talking about ($5K to $6K) first time CO registration on a $176K unit for added TTL. Although, it seems CO really sticks it to their residents for subsequent registrations. Buy something and continue to pay sales tax on it forever.

Include Virginia in that.
I pay a hefty "personal property" tax to the County for the privilege of owning the motorhome and other vehicles. Based on the value of the vehicle. Good side is that the tax bite decreases as they age. And they don't like me since I tend to run a car until the wheels part company.
California used to roll that same tax into the vehicle registration.
Hope you find your new home on wheels soon.
Chris in Virginia

Yes, we have an ownership tax in lieu of personal property tax. It is based on the original taxable value and year of service. So registration for my 2017 was $6,200 this year, each year it goes down, but still very steep.

My 2015 Dynamax DX3-37RB has a GVWR of 33,000 pounds. A quick online check shows the current Dynamax Force models to have a GVWR of 28,000 pounds; 5,000 pounds LESS for the Force. For someone who wants to travel with SEVEN people, that 5,000 pounds could mean a great deal regarding what could safely be carried. Looking at the CVWR and the situation gets MUCH worse. 54,000 pounds vs 33,000 pounds. These Super-C Class RVs are MAJOR investments which will likely be used for years. Buyers should have a VERY CLEAR understanding of the weight limitations they'll be living with.

I am paying close attention to NCC. When I started this party looking at 'regular' class C's that sleep 8-10 people I was shocked to see we were all going to have to get a lot skinnier and travel with nothing and empty tanks just to be legal leaving the house. I'm either going to have to save another couple of years or look at other models like the valencia. Along the same lines, I can't find a DP class A that can sleep all of us and pull 7500 lb anywhere near my price range.

galnar, you're wise to be paying close attention to details like NCC. Sleeping 8~10 people in ANY RV will be a challenge. I don't know of ANY RV that can sleep 10 (even 8 is a challenge) AND, have the required 10 seatbelted seats to legally drive. I suspect you're going to need a second "chase" vehicle that has LOTS of seats. Even when "regular" C-Class RVs HAVE sleeping for 8, good luck in those being truly comfortable beds. The Serta "king" mattress that Dynamax installed as OEM equipment in my 2015 DX3-37RB was a POS. I was shocked that Serta actually put their name on it. I've heard that Dynamax IS using better mattresses now but, you really need to look CAREFULLY at ALL the furniture. Beautiful "eye candy" doesn't necessarily mean comfort. If you MUST travel with 8~10 people, you might actually be better off with TWO standard C-Class RVs. Possibly one could pull a dingy van that had enough seats to carry your crew on excursions and, the second standard C-Class could tow a utility trailer that contained all the other "stuff" you want to bring along. That way, you could still bring everybody & everything WITHOUT exceeding either RV's limitations.

You have 5 kids so sleeping arrangements really isn't an issue. Just make sure you have the seat belts. Get a truck or SUV for a toad, that gives you added cargo capacity. We have traveled with 6 (2 adults and 4 kids) in my Isata 5 pulling a Ram 1500 (toad) with a golf cart in the bed and other items of weight stored in the truck. Everyone was comfortable, 2 kids in the bunks and two in the cab over. The Isata handled exceptional well with zero issues.
