Speed limiter

Does anyone know if a 2017 DX3 has a speed limiter. We have roads in Texas with speed limits of 85 and my DX3 will not set the speed past 78-79 even though it has power avalible. I can't get it past that manually either.

I think that there is an RPM limiter. Don't know the number.

There is a rev limiter, but mine is acting like it has a hard top speed limit of 78/79mph. It isn't close to hitting the Rev limit.

Yep, it will have a speed limiter set to the tires rating. My work truck was a F550 4x4 and 82mph was the top speed on it.

Although the engine is governed to 2200 RPM, you will only see it get to about 2000 RPM (or a bit lower) in 6th gear due to the top speed limiter.

Is this something that can be user reset if you upgrade tires?

Rev limiter is 2100 I thought which corresponds to the 78 I've seen in 6th gear. Not aware of a speed limiter. Itll definitely pass 78 on a downhill but don't recommend it.

At the end of the day it's a MDT not a pickup. I find 70 is much more stable and enjoyable than 75 or 78.

Definitely took some adjustment to get used to slow(er) and steady as I'm one to do 85 all day long in a pickup

While I agree that it's much more comforting to pick a slower speed and enjoy the ride but sometimes I want to hit 85 so when I try to make it up a LOOOONG steep hill, I'm not doing 35 at the top. It would be nice to take a run at it...lol.

They must have forgotten to put one on ours, we cruise 85-90 all the time.

I also think it’s a speed limiter because when you set cruise and click up the cruise speed faster than your actual speed is increasing, 79 is as high as you can go.

People in Texas cruise around at 90 in a camper??

Yet another good reason to NEVER move there.

78 is what we show on our paperwork as well.

Mine like many is set to 74 mph. FR & RV Dealer and even FORD denied - lied through their teeth. Time to get the 5star tune - worth every $$$. Basic program it comes with resets the speed cap to 160 KPH (99.4194mph). Never needed or went that fast, just that my hands are no longer tied when driving.

1. just to be clear I assume you have a Ford...so that is different than the M2's. What Ford do you have? I know on the E450, I have personally had them over 80 (allegedly). So I know of no speed limiter. If you have a Class A Ford that might be a different story.

2. Also, I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Ignorance is not lying. It's just people speaking when they don't really know for sure or maybe they think they do. In 16 years of building on the E450 chassis, I do not know of any speed limiter.

Yes, Class A FR Georgetown with Ford F53 chassis - standard config. The vans (? class B & C) have a different engine, … I guess FR thinks the customer base has no idea how/when/if/able/need ... to drive above 74.

The vans, yes are different. That is a 2-valve V-10, the Class A's converted to a 3 valve V-10 a while back.

I'm not sure I would pin this on FR. We don't set the speed limiter. Ford does. I know that the M2 stuff is governed based a little on the RPM's. I assume that Ford limits the speed based on a limiting factor as well...whether that is transmission, brakes, center of gravity.

That would not be limited to just FR though...every F53 chassis would likely be speed limited.
