Step Lock With Steps In?
My Step Lock switch seems to only allow locking the steps out (extended). When the steps are in, and I move the switch to "Lock", the steps still extend when I open the door. Any way to keep the steps from extending?

Functioning as designed. There was a discussion regarding this (Europa Mods thread?) and the thought was it is set up this way to prevent a person stepping out the door while not realizing the step was not deployed. It does make sense that having the steps crush themselves against a high curb is preferable to a person face planting, but still…. Probably the only way to accomplish what you want to do would require installing a power switch to the steps.

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering if it was a "liability management" choice by Dynamax. The step lock on my 99 Winnebago would lock the steps in or out (very handy), but liabilty risk for manufacturers has increased in last 25 years. At least, the step motor seems to stop when the steps clunk into something.

Someone on the unofficial Facebook group just posted a picture of a added toggle switch under the bin by the door. I am going to do the same, I hate the curb crash in front m of my house when we pack up. It may be a good idea to hang something bright on the door as a reminder when it is locked out.

In Dynamax’s defense, with the step retracted, and if one didn’t expect it, that first step out the door would be a doozy, especially in the M2 coaches. And considering the demographics of the average Dynamax customer, straight to the emergency room! (And I admit it, I resemble that remark.)

On my 2018 DX3 (not sure if this works on newer models), the switch that operates the steps is located on the hinge side of the screen door frame. It is a magnetic switch that extends the steps when in the "open" position. Rather than rewire the switch I opted for a simpler solution.
When I park the camper in front of my house I hold the steps in the retracted position with the help of a magnet. Place a magnet on the steel frame of the screen door against the step switch. This holds the magnetic switch "closed" and disables the steps from extending. You may need to test the position of the magnetic to ensure polarity so that it closes and not opens the switch. It's simple and it works. Just remember to remove the magnet before you begin your journey.
(I would include pics but the camper is still in the body shop and conveniently inaccessible to me. )

I know this is a safety thing, that said I just took a small magnet and attached a velcro strip to it then glued velcro by the door switch on the inner frame for when I didn't want it closed with the door open. Works on my 2016 Isata 3.

Happyatrest or Mlmay12 - I can't find the step switch/sensor. Where on the screen door would I place the magnet?
BTW - I'm at the owners gathering in Granby. At least 6 people have helped me search for it. No luck finding that sensor.

When inside the camper and looking at the closed screen door, the switch is located on the hinge (left side) of the screen door about a foot above the bottom of the door. On a Europa, Dynamax MAY have changed to a different method of engaging the steps and hopefully BClemens can help out here in regards to that question.
I wish I could post a picture of the switch/magnet but currently my DX3 is still in the body shop and unavailable to me. Sorry!

I have just the opposite issue. The step lock switch does nothing. The steps always retract when door closed. Seems like a fuse issue so steps think power is off (so always retracts).
Just don't know where fuse might be.
