Stove vent fan

Why is there no vent over the stove in the Isata 3 24FW. Without making jokes about my husbands cooking the fire alarm goes off too much. Even using the toaster. Not sure what to do about it. I read all you need to do is run the big fan. That doesn’t make any difference. We have to fan the alarm which is annoying to shut it off

I purchased our own replacement smoke alarms and CO monitors.

I bought the kind with a “hush” for when ours goes off.

Most times, when it goes off, we just say “your toast is ready honey!”

That's what we do, "toast is done". Unfortunately it scares my dogs.

Well, long story, but one made over 16 years.

The standard outside vent cover that you can get for RV's, is the same little crappy plastic one that turns yellow in a few years. Looks like this one. https://www.amazon.com/Appizz-Mobile...e+exhaust+vent

Well, those tabs end up breaking off and so the cover ends up rattling when driving down the road.

So then, the industry created this one to replace it.

https://www.amazon.com/JR-Products-5...e+exhaust+vent

UV protected (no yellowing) and no more tabs to break off. Instead there are those little "clips" that snap it shut for travel. The problem is, they are very stiff and you need both hands to really open or close them....and on most motorhomes, there is no way to reach them without a ladder. Also, the inside vents that were available were rattling black, hulking beasts that took away your sight lines when cooking.

So, the way the code reads, we just need an exhaust fan near the stove. So we located a Maxxair vent fan that is pretty powerful. You can crack a window right near the stove and it will draw air out. Raining? no big deal, it has a built in cover. It is also much more powerful than the little noise fans on most range hoods.

Now, flash forward to today and there seem to be new products coming out all the time. new, sleek, european range hoods. Still not a great selection for outside vents....but its getting better. So we will continue to watch this and if the right product comes along we will jump on it. Until then, we love having a nice big window at the galley. We like having a rattle free vent fan. We just need to make sure the smoke detector gets mounted further away maybe.

Thanks BC, I'm glad I don't have one of those plastic things, all they ever did was rattle. I really like our covered Maxxair vents, use them all the time, great solution.

"You can crack a window right near the stove and it will draw air out."

We have found this really helps.

We open the window and a small USB rechargeable fan. Works great.
