Tank sensors

What adhesive is used for the black tank sensors. One of mine fell off. I stuck it back on but I know that won’t last.

Same problem with my REV, I found the mid and top sensors dangling this weekend. Not sure which tank they go to. It looks like double sided foam adhesive strip. I'll be interested to see the correct answer.

Our middle and upper grey tank sensors were dangling as well. Looks like they used duct tape originally, so that's what I went back with. I'm certain that won't be a permanent fix.

Interested to find out what others have had success with.

It is a double sided tape. I think the issue is, no amount of prep seems to correct the release agent they put on the molds. Or maybe...it was just no amount of prep. Our guys are supposed to be wiping that area with a cleaner...I'll have to go audit that. My service guys uses a BASF adhesive promotor. You can get high just being near that stuff.

Mine had several off when we picked it up. Caused a grey tank overflow issue.

Each sensor reads 1/3rd. Any 2, in any order, read 2/3rds. If your middle one falls off, the liquid will reach the top, the gauge reads 2/3rds, and then it floods.

I reapplied mine with a 3M double sided aircraft grade tape. SO far they have held.

I also moved the top sensor on the fresh water tank. it was physically located above the overflow, and would thus never read.

Does it matter how thick the double sided tape is?

I epoxied a depth sounder to the inside bottom of a sailboat, it shot through the fiberglass just fine & never came loose.

I re-attached my sensors today. I find it interesting that both gray and black tanks have what appear to be built in sensors, yet the black tank also has two stick on sensors mid and full.

1. The built in sensors are for the black and gray tank.
2. The stick on sensors are likely for the macerating toilet...separate sensors that come with the toilet.

If you don't have a macerating toilet...then someone might have changed them out?

No macerator toilet. I stuck them on the black tank because they were marked "Waste Tank, Med and High". I'll fill the tanks with water and see how they read. The two sensors did look like an after thought, they were from a 4 wire grey cable ty-wrapped to the flex conduit and only had two sensors, not three as I expected.

After reading this thread we took a look at our tanks, fresh, black and gray. The sensors all look permanently attached, no double sided tape anywhere so not sure what you all are looking at. Are we missing something?

many of the units differ based on model.
