Thermostats in Isata 5

Quick question, or maybe just confirmation.

Does the front thermostat control the front AC unit AND the propane furnace, and the rear thermostat only control the rear AC unit?

Just checking as turning on only the rear t-stat to furnace heat results in nothing, but front works fine for heat.

Thanks!

You have it right. Front is AC and furnace, rear is a AC.

Too bad. That means you have to get out of bed IN THE COLD if you need the furnace before morning.

I’d rather have control of both from the bedroom.

Oh well.

With the multiplex system we are running today, you can control it from the comfort of your covers via smartphone app.

For us older unit owners (2020 - old ) one can purchase thermostats like these and do that via wifi or bluetooth. https://www.microair.net/products/ea...-rv-thermostat

I just added them to my unit, plugs right in. Also added some sealing behind the thermostats so they weren't so susceptible to drafts and high temps in the instrument column.

Too bad those fancy ones won't work on my 2017.

I've got the atwood air command units in mine. I do have cute little IR remotes for them though. I've never checked to see if my rear thermostat can control my furnace though. Gonna try it today.

I was told that in some units, you can set the Heat pump to work at a temp, lets say 70*, then when it drops below 40-45* outside it will shut down the heatpump and turn the Gas Furnace on automatically.
In my 2021 30FW I have been doing all that manually. Is the Gas Furnace wired in like that to do that switchover automatically???

In theory, yes. If you are set to heat pump or heat strip (electric heat) and it is 5 degrees below set point, it should automatically change over to furnace.

My furnace kicks in automatically if the electric heat strips can’t maintain the set point. I do not know what temp kicks in the propane furnace.

Our issue is sometimes you need AC at bedtime, but heat before morning. I set the rear AC to cool and the front AC to heat and that has worked OK in transitional weather.

I gave it a try in my 2017 I5 35DB and my rear thermostat does not seem to trigger my furnace, even if I press the furnace button and turn on that function.

Same here on my 2020. Both T-stats control electric and furnace heat.
