Time to Wax the Beast

I know I have seen where some of you came up with different contraptions to reach the cabover part of your Rigs so you could reach wash and wax. Whats the best way to get this done?

Built a custom scaffold. Used ladder and planks before that

I have scaffold but it’s all 6’. I think it’s ladders and a walk board till I can build something. Falling doesn’t scare me. Falling into the hood scares the crap out of me though. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you use a walk board 2x12 make sure you double them up so it is a 4x12 It is quite a span between ladders.

We bought two scaffolds at Home Depot. My dad cut and welded the two together and we made a longer plank. The entire thing is 10' wide. We had to add 2' to the top to make it tall enough. Easy to roll over the hood and get to the entire cabover for bugs and than to wax. But I have a place to store it, so that may not work for everyone.

Good idea there. I am building a garage for the motorhome so will have room to store that. I am also gonna add floor drain and water in the garage to be able to wash indoors.

Cleaning

I use a Foam Gun, about $60 from Amazon or Chemical Guys. This connects to the end of the water hose and puts a thick cleaning foam on the RV. There are adjustments on gun to mix the soap to mixture you want. Then I have 2- 8' pieces of 1 1/4" PVC w/ screw together connectors. I then bolted a window cleaning wand mop to 1 end of my pole. It does a great job and I do not have to leave the ground. I use a Chemical Guy RV spray and wax thru the foam gun to put a coat of wax on.

LOL. Yea but I enjoy detailing. The rain has set in from the Hurricane and had my truck and my daughters 4-Runner cleaned and in the garage so spend last 2 days clay barring and waxing.

I seen what you are talking about on YouTube or their website and looked pretty good. Would just like to get a good coat of hand wax on the cabover for the bugs.

No kidding? If thats a hand wax you are robbing the poor guy... LOL

I did figure out a good way to reach the places though. I have a tractor with a front end loader. I guess I will be in the loader until I can build something permanent.

Just poured 4400 sq ft for my new garage last Saturday. The RV section is 40x60 and I had two drains installed. The other half of the 40 is for a lift since the building is going to be so tall.

I hadn't given it any thought but now that this is mentioned, a foldable off the wall type of scaffolding is a great idea!

Nice piece Halla. I had thought of that but I thought the bottoms would want to kick out without the x-braces or at least something stabilizing the bottom of the 2 out side scaffold supports. I see you added gussets to the top corners for this.

Plenty sturdy, I am a big guy, no issues. But I was a carpenter and I am pretty comfortable on scaffolds. It is taller now too, the HD is taller so we added another 24”
