Trading up

Hello all,
We’ve decided that we are going to attempt to trade in our rig on a newer one.

Anyone have a clue what trade in value for a 2016 ForceHD 37TS with 28k miles, loads of upgrades, and meticulously maintained would be?

Going to be trading into a 2022 DX3 37BD 🤞

I’ve found one in TX and one in IA that will do.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

If you are not selling direct to consumer...I would suggest a Dynamax dealer who knows their value. Anthem RV in Arizona has always offered solid buy bids (and they can come and get it). Trading to a dealer is going to save the tax difference. So weigh that with how much more you think you might get vs. trading in.

I know Anthem just recently bought an Isata 3 from a guy I knew personally here in Elkhart. Paid a very fair price and picked it up. Zero hassle.

There are others of course depending on what part of the country you are in.

We have seen some softening on the trailer side...so we might be just off the peak right now.

Thank you.
Yes, I was just going to trade this one in at the dealer. I don’t want to monkey around selling it myself or buying used. The rigs I was looking at are were from:

McKee RV in Perry IA
Motorhome Specialists in Alvarado TX

Not sure if they are good places or not. I’ll give Anthem a call Monday. Thanks for the suggestion.

Would highly suggest listing on rv trader, trade in at dealer will cost you 20-30k. Unless you have the $ to spend and don’t want the hassle of selling privately (I know sometimes I don’t want the hassle!).

Boy, you weren’t kidding. They offered me 130k on trade and not a nickel off the new rig. Actually the one I wanted sold earlier today and the next one coming in is 10k more with less options [emoji51]

This may be more challenging than I thought 🤣

I bet you'll get a bunch more on rvtrader too. Good luck with the sale of your current rig, cause waiting for the new one is gonna suck..

Congrats! what options, color, etc. did you get locked in with? Fingers crossed for ya that it is actually June and August. Our August turned into November due to various challenges with parts, orders, covid, etc..

Dealers are getting top $ for used units, then on top of that I see people offering OVER the insane price they are asking. Crazy!

Found a DX3 37BD
Magnetic paint with blackout package
Carbon interior
Driftwood cabinets
All electric
Power reclining theater seats
Cab over bunk
Lithium batteries
Innomax adjustable bed
Washer/dryer
Mobileye
JBL premium sound

I really hope it’s sooner. The only reason we bought this was to have it for the tail end of camping season. Otherwise we could have gotten the exact interior colors we wanted for less money in a 2023 at a dealer that’s only 2hrs away as opposed to 13 hrs. 🤞

Did you take delivery last November or are you still waiting?

What did you get?

Yeah, it wasn’t a “deal” for sure but we got what we wanted and hopefully in time for our last few trips of the year.

We took delivery end of November 2021, ended up taking over order from Iowa dealer (McKee) back in January 2021. It had an original date of delivery of August 25th, but as said earlier, lots of delays, not faulting dealer or Dynamax on it though.

It was worth the wait. We ended up getting 2021 3400KD w, cab over, washer/dryer, theater seats and solar with ivory/caramel interior and admiral blue exterior.
Also, I hear it may be a thing of the past, but we had a pretty respectable locked-in pre-covid price and they stayed to their word.

That sounds awesome. I talked to McKee, seemed like good people but they wouldn’t have had the unit until Dec/Jan.

How do you like the solar? Would you do it again?

Solar works pretty well, we store ours inside a pole barn when not in use, it has 4 skylight panels that are not lined up with the panels on the roof. Even while inside, it tops off the batteries. I'll likely add a couple more panels down the road and eventually, once AGM batteries are done, change over to lithium. We haven't really done boondocking just yet, but have spent the night in it at home while unplugged. Factory battery package runs the residential fridge, TVs, lights, etc. all without any problems. Aquahot is very nice too, and it'll heat the entire coach while driving down the road off of engine pre-heat switch.

Info about our experience selling RV to CW
Just putting this out there for what it's worth,

Was thinking about selling the 'Quest' and after receiving a number of solicitations from Camping World stating how they want to buy RVs, I thought I'd give them a try....

Well first off they sent me a "reasonable" purchase offer (conditioned on inspection of course). I was informed to make an appointment with my nearest CW for the inspection (Only one CW near me, 250 miles away), and if all is well we would finalize the arrangement. Sounds good right?

Well, the reality is a bit different.
We made plans with CW to drive the 250 miles to CW on a Thursday, drop the RV at their location, get a motel for the night, let CW do their inspection thing, finish the paperwork, and go back home Friday evening with everything settled.

Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, we get an email (not a call) from a different CW saying they look forward to meeting us and moving the process ahead. To say we were shocked at the change of venue is an understatement! Getting to the new location would add another day to our travels, was not what we had originally agreed to, and would not align with my work schedule. So of course I called to see what was going on.

Well, this is where things REALLY went sideways. First of all the new location"Sales Manager" (name redacted) relayed the information that CW would want to relocate our 'Quest' to a different part of the US for sale, and that "Corporate" would "force" them to purchase the RV and absorb the cost of relocating the RV to a different dealer. (This was why the previous location was changed, as the original location would not absorb the added expenses). So with all this said this MA Sales Manager, told us that they would offer us $35000 LESS than the original Corporate CW quote.

So of course we passed on this "deal".

Camping World fails again.
