Trailer tongue length for 34KD

In preparation for our DX3 34KD delivery next month, I am getting ready to order a new enclosed trailer to haul some toys. 24' long, 8' tall. I am debating on what length I should go with on the tongue length.

52"-54" seems standard on the trailers I'm looking at, but there is also an option to upgrade to 60".

Any of you guys that tow a car hauler with your DX3 have any advice or opinions?

Thanks

60" extended tongue all the way, in my opinion. Will make it easier to back up and give you a little more breathing room.

I've got a 60" and don't regret it at all. Can still jackknife it too far and make contact, but never worry about grades tipping it into the RV

My garage permit arrived so I am getting much closer! I never thought a bull nose trailer made sense until I saw this thread. Would this design work well behind an XL?
https://neotrailers.com/trailer_ncbs.php Thank you. To me it looks like it has the clearance you get with a longer tongue.

I used to think Becker Custom All Aluminum trailers were the way to go but they are not making recreational trailers. They pointed me to https://neotrailers.com/index.php and they look pretty nice!

Thank you everyone for the replies. I ended up ordering a 22' instead of the 24'. I wanted to keep my total length under 65', the 24' put me almost 2 feet over. Went with the 60" tongue, and 8' height on the inside, 12" oc floor, ceiling, and wall studs.

It will be set up to haul off-road toys and some RC airplanes depending on where we will be adventuring.

Thanks

Shirt is always a good thing. But long works too!

Back with my last coach and trailer I was 90’. Down at bike week I have seen a few people with prevost coaches and trailers that are over 100’!!!!

If I didn’t live in California, I definitely wouldn’t not have been concerned. Ca can be pretty strict with enforcement, they won’t even let ya go faster then 55mph while towing. I have a bunch of buddies who have been pulled over and ticketed on their way to some Jet events coming down the grapevine for “speeding”. Figure better safe then sorry

Do the 60”! You won’t have to worry about nicking the trailer on a hard turn.

Good call going with the 60”. It’s not too big of a deal until you go up an incline while turning. Pulling into or out of a gas station for example. It’s really easy for the top of the trailer to make contact with the corner of the RV if the tongue is too short.
