Truck Washes OK?

Does anyone have experience with these truck washes? We just came back from a trip to the coast and need to get our Force cleaned up.

I have not heard of any negatives of folks using a truck wash just talk to them in advance if there are areas you have concerns about like your engine bay.

I have a trailer but I used one without issue on my way home from a big trip I took out west last month. They did a real good job too.

Blue Beacon or other similar should be fine. I use the standard wash/wax without any brightener at Bluw Beacons. They will even wash your towed vehicle also, just adds to the footage.

I'd stay away from automatic washes. Unless the attendant can turn the roof washer off. Too much stuff that could be damaged by a roof brush system in most automatics.

Used to drive semi rigs in a prior lifetime. Be advised that Blue Beacon uses very high pressure washers. Its been 35+ years since I've used their services. Maybe now days they can turn their pressure washers down for RVs, bit I'd definitely ask if they could do so.

Happy Camping

I used Blue Beacon for the first time a few weeks back. Had a great experience with them. Very professional and asked if we wanted it brushed or just power washed. I opted for a brush but asked that they be gentle with the brushes and use low pressure spray. They complied fully with me request, I will be back for sure..

The one you listed above is the exact one i used.

Have you considered a long handled, extension RV brush, dipped in a bucket of car wash suds and a hose?
You will do a better job and have no worries of damage to all the various protrusions and accessories on the roof and sides of your rig.
And high pressure spray is sure to cause leaks inside your RV.

I used a Blue Beacon in Houston. The wash was fine, but the floor of the bay was so muddy that the underside and wheel wells came out worse than they went in. Check it first!

I've used Blue Beacon truck washes many times with my Dynamax. The last time I used them, the guy washing the front driverside corner got the wand too close to the paint on the cab over. The result was two quarter size areas of paint were taken off the coach. When I filed a complaint with Blue Beacon, they denied it claiming there was existing damage. (There wasn't existing damage.) It was disappointing that they refused to make things right. Needless to say, I haven't used Blue Beacon again.

Agreed, I have found pressure hoses to be damaging to RVs, Boats and planes as well as bricks and mortar.

Some aerospace factories use high pressure water to cut aluminum.

I've been using Blue Beacon truck washes for all my motorhomes for the past few years. I've always been satisfied, and never had any issues. One hint: always ask for the "Classic Wash" (which is just a standard wash with brushing by hand) versus the "Acid Wash" (which could be harmful to your RVs paint).

I've been using the Acid Wash for the entirety of the life of the coach. The Dynamax paint job is as durable as any automotive paint job. I do wonder about the rubber seals a bit but haven't seen any accelerated deterioration in 5 years so I'm not too worried. I'm convinced dirty brushes are much more of a danger to paint jobs than a mild acid. And man do they get the bugs off!

edit: I wouldn't expect to have any wax left afterwards though if you do wax yours that may be a consideration

I've used Blue Beacon a few times and have never had any problems. I do suggest this though... DO NOT GO TO THE OTHER COMPANIES. I stopped one night and went to some truck wash who did exactly the same thing that BB does but instead of spending under 50 bucks, I ended up paying over 150 bucks. I chalked it up to experience that I was stupid enough not to ask how much it was assuming it wouldn't be much different than BB.

Heed the Dynamax recommendations on paint care.

Some Blue Beacons will use very stiff brushes on your paint. If you go there tell them to use a super soft brush or no brush.

I bought these "highly rated" bug sponges from Autogeek. Soak them in soapy water and scrub the bugs off. I used them on the paint and Diamond Shield with no apparent scuffing or scratching. The Diamond Shield had been treated with 303. I sliced one in two for tighter spots, but using it a block is kinda nice because you can just keep rotating it. I sprayed them with the hose to blow the bugs out of the sponge.
