Undocumented and Unaware - AUX 1 and AUX 2 Switches (2022 isata 5 28SS)

Discovered yesterday that the AUX 1 and AUX 2 switches were already allocated! This was news to me seeing there were two wires coming out from the connector block under the hood!

The curious part is what the heck are AUX 1 and AUX 2 being used for?

The functions for AUX 1 and AUX 2 were never disclosed by the dealer during the walk-around when taking delivery, nor has any Dynamax documentation been seen. AUX 1 was seen be set as a Battery feed (default) along with ON or OFF - it was also seen with about a 12 ga. red wire spliced-in too. AUX 2 was seen to be set as a Battery feed also and configured for momentary ON - it was seen with what looked like a spliced -in 16 ga. green wire. Nothing was heard or seen when turning AUX 1 on and off a few times. I did hear some faint solenoid "thumps" around the rig's middle right side when AUX 2 was pressed a few times. Both of the connector blocks' wires were spliced, ran back through the firewall (in front of the brake pedal), then going under the cab carpet. The wiring appears to have been done during the manufacture phase.

I was planning on using AUX 1 for powering an amateur radio VHF/UHF mobile radio, an Icom ID-5100A. Instead of using AUX 1 for powering the radio, the next one available was used, AUX 3, configuring it for a Battery feed (since it will be used occasionally when parked) and for ON or OFF.

The radio and antenna were finally installed and seem to be working great. It is nice to have 2m /70cm mobile in the rig now and should be great when back out on the road soon.

So, any ideas what AUX 1 and AUX 2 are being used for?

one connects the chassis and coach batteries together to help start the coach if the chassis batteries go down The other is for the white set up lights on the rear of the coach

Like DavidMort stated, AUX1 is the "docking lights" on the rear of the coach if you're messing with the hitch/toad/whatever and need additional light. AUX2 is the "Battery Boost" function that couples the coach and house batteries in the event on side or the other has gone flat, which you confirmed with the relay sounds. Good luck! I have to figure out how to change my AUX2 to momentary, oddly it's OFF-ON like AUX1.

Configuring the AUX switches was easy within the Commercial menu settings. Even for the AUX 3 that I set for installing the ham radio unit, AUX 3 was set for "Battery" when the default is with "Ignition". Since I wanted to use the radio occasionally when parked, It was set for Battery otherwise the Ignition would have to the on, or to ACC. From what was read on the AUX Switches AUX 1 and 2 are default to Battery, while AUX 3-6 are default to Ignition with each configuration to the other power source if needed. The ON/OFF or Momentary function for each switch is configured there too.

The AUX functions and their connection are fully documented on the RAM Owners web site and I believe the documents have also been posted to the Files section on this site.

Aux 1 is normally battery boost (connects house and chassis batteries...should be ste to momentary)

Aux 2 is docking lights.

We had stickers made that go above the switches, but then Ram changed the dash and the stickers would no longer work. I don't think anyone mentioned it, but by then a bunch have shipped. I think we need to add it to the "brand specific information sheet"
