Wall support around bathroom window for 2021 30FW

I need to install some sort of handrail to help me get on and off the toilet, and am thinking about adding a grab bar opposite the toilet just below the window horizontally, and also perhaps between the window and the shower vertically.

Does anyone have any construction details that can help determine if this is safe/doable and how wide or deep the supports/framing may be?(steel/wood?)

I’m not sure anyone can or will be able to provide hard evidence that there is any structural integrity within your rig to mount to, to be strong enough for your needs.

Without prior consideration during the building phase, there’s no RV out there that is built with that kind of consideration.

I may be wrong, so wait and see if someone can prove me wrong.

There is an aluminum channel around the window frame that the window fits into and is screwed in to the frame. Most of the rest of the wall is hollow with aluminum frame on regular spacing but not like 16” on center as in a house wall. The wall board is just like 1/8” thick and certainly can’t support much.

The only reliable support is that aluminum frame under the window, but again not sure how much stress can be applied. I took pictures at the factory when I toured this past March, but do not have a picture of the framing.

Maybe someone from Dynamax can give you some guidance.

The best person to answer your question is bclemens, aka Brian Clemens, who answered your other post on 30FW wet bay heater wiring. Brian is the general manager of the Dynamax division and can probably supply you with drawings or pictures. I know he has supplied drawings for some Dynamax products on the forum but I don't remember which units or what threads they were in.

There will be a 1.5" wide aluminum tube on either side of the window.

I think they also make things that mount to the floor around the toilet if there is any concern going into a hollow aluminum tube.

It’s there, they just put the wall board up first and then cutout for the TV. Here is a picture before the wallboard went up. Note the plywood TV mount painted black. This is an excellent backing for mounting towel bar or shelf above the toilet in the bathroom.

There would be aluminum framing under the window i believe on the left hand side. The easiest way to find it would be a stud finder. The aluminum tube below the window would not be stuffed with wood like we do in some areas. It would be hollow. So keep that in mind. You may want to consider some kind of expanding rivet or hollow wall anchor. It would really just depend if you need to rely on this handle to support your weight or just for balance and stabilization.

I assume the tube is right up against the window frame and also above and below it??

Both I and the dealer discussed something that could be mounted to the floor and the wall behind the toilet but with the limited room haven't come up with anything yet.

I assume the aluminum framing/tube is square and not round?
I need it "mostly" for stabilization but certainly would put some weight on it going up or down.

Correct. You can easily drill into it or screw directly into it.

I mounted a towel bar in my bathroom by attaching it to a 1x4 "furring strip" that was attached to the framing behind the wall. Using a stud finder along with tapping on the wall led to the discovery of the solid areas inside the wall.

Can I assume, based on your comments, that the aluminum tube runs as drawn on the picture below?

If not, could you please mark it up in a different color to show it's location?

As an alternative have you considered Toilet Safety Rails? They come in various designs and one of them may fit your rig.

We have a different style one and that with a raised toilet seat make it easier to get up.https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00OZACS...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
Of course, ours is installed at home and I'm not certain how that would work with an rv toilet.

If you go to the 4:00 mark on the plant tour video, you can see how the walls are constructed. Watching the plant tour video is very useful in understanding how everything comes together. Only thing better is an in person plant tour.

(Disclaimer: The following is only offered as humor.)

When I read the opening post about needing assistance getting off toilet and lack of suitable anchor points, fitst thought was install a bidet seat and only use cold water.

For an extra boost run the line from the refrigerators cold water dispenser.

Casual observer here, BUT a couple years ago, Dynamax was kind enough to provide me with a "Wall Schematic" (see picture below for screenshot) for our coach. Could the same thing be posted here in this thread, but for the 30FW?
