Water filter

I have a 2018 force hd with a kw1 water filter. It froze and cracked the housing. Should I get something else to replace it with, or the same thing? I assume I’ll have to cut and recrimp the water lines in / out to replace the housing?
And any tricks to keep it from freezing again besides heating the water bay?
Thank you

Yeah... these posts reminded me that I forgot to pull my water filter out. Too late now. Crap.

you have the new RCS housing. you should be able to buy a replacement housing. some of the rv dealers have it for less than the water pure company.

i won't comment on whether you should pull the entire filter mount and housing out and replace it with something else. there are hundreds of threads about this. personally i have not had any problems with kw1 filter in the older FR1 housing.

Any way to keep the filter housing from freezing? Antifreeze seems to work.

Bypass the filter and use an external filter on the hose.

I empty canister. Replace canister with no filter. Blow out lines. Remove canister and keep it off. If using trailer, I heat the wet bay with tiny electric heater with thermostat set to 55, before departure and at destination. I use the blue torpedo filter and never put filter in housing, as I believe the elements are a ripoff.

I went out and checked mine, it did not freeze. I guess since I kept the trailer warm all this time, it was enough to keep the filter/pump compartment above freezing.
