Water leak coming from front a/c
While staying in Louisiana last night we experienced major thunderstorms and driving rain. When I got up this morning found a large puddle of water directly under the front a/c unit. Found water dripping from the driver’s side edge of the unit. When the rain slows down the leak stops, so it is obviously finding its way in through the a/c mount. Any suggestions at this point since it is still raining?

Had the exact same experience awhile back during a 30-40 mph driving rain. In the two years we have had our Isata 3, that is the only time I experience any water in the unit.

I had the exact thing happen a year or so ago in a driving rain storm. It never happened again in 30,000 miles of traveling.

Did you check how snug the bolts are? They don't need to be overly tight, just enough to squish the rubber gasket slightly.

I just did that this afternoon when I stopped. While it was at the factory back in January, they installed the new Atwood trim kit which requires loosening those bolts. 3 of the 4 bolts turned very easily for about 5 or 6 rotations.
Of course, it is no longer raining, so I have no idea if this was the issue.

That's the catch 22...too tight and it can warp the chassis, not tight enough and the seal does not compress. Maybe take a hose to it when you get home and see.

Word of advice, never tighten to where the gap between the frame and the roof are less than 3/4". Dmax had one of mine tightened under a 1/2" and it warped the ac frame. No leak, but one helluva fan noise hitting the cage. I remounted (saved Dmax who offered a new ac unit) the existing unit with a new gasket Dmax sent me and tightened right to 3/4" gap. The only issue I saw was the replacement gasket is not quite as wide as the original one. Yet the replacement seems a little softer, the original was hard like a rock. If that AC is not centered exactly in the cutout, you may only have 1/2" or less of gasket contacting the roof, I would get a new gasket, remove the unit, clean that roof well, and put it back taking care to center it in the opening. If you need tips on removing just ask me, it's not too hard.

Did you put all the silver duct tape in the vent area? Mine came with none, and basically hot air from the roof was being sucked in the unit and cold air blowing into the roof. I taped it all up, sealed that entire cavity tight and the cooling was beyond good. Did both units. So if anyone thinks their AC is not quite up to par, take the roof vent off, look in there and see if the roof cavity is sealed up.

Wasn't there some sort of recall on these Atwood's to help keep condensation from running back inside. Both my airs pour water into the coach when you shut the AC off What does the upgraded Atwood trim look like, how do I know if I have it?

I clipped this info out of another thread on the subject. Search Atwood and you can find the threads discussing this topic.
“Today I also called 800-544-4881 & pressed #3 then press #2 & spoked with Rep. Sharon who was very helpful. Dometic is shipping out 2 newly designed Air Intake/Filter Assemblies consisting of Part #'s 3315930.101 & 3315919.000 & was advised that Dometic will pay for any labor charges to install - she also gave me a confirmation #.”

Atwood update was already done on both my a/c units. That is not the problem as I have never had a condensation drip before or after the update. This only happened in a very heavy rainstorm.

So I called Dometic like others on the forum have done. I got Hector on the phone explained the situation. He was very familiar with the issue but he said I needed to call Forest River and they would handle this. I told him I didn't think that was right and it was my understanding that Dometic would just send me the parts directly. He again said that wasn't right but he would put me on hold and ask someone. At this point I was getting prepared for a full blown argument. About two mins later Hector returns and said "Man I was completely wrong and your right." He was more that happy to take my info and said two of the replacement would be shipped to me on Mon.. Have to say I was pretty surprised by a customer service person who actually takes care of business..

I’m not at our coach right now so I can’t send a picture. Sounds like you got it handled with Dometic based on your next post.
