When Morryde needs mo' work
A couple of months ago, in anticipation of the Western Rally, we had decided to have our AquaHot serviced by a certified Aquahot technician. This would be it's 3rd service cycle (I had done the the previous 2) and I figured it might be good to have another set of eyes look at it in case I had overlooked something. We dropped it off last week and while the AquaHot service went flawlessly we discovered that a second set of eyes was invaluable.
We received a call from the service center that while accessing the AquaHot diesel fuel filter they had found that the welded standoff brackets from the Freightliner frame to the "outrigger" or subframe assembly had fractured and collapsed. This occurred on all four corners of the frame box above the rear differential. We had no obvious signs of deformity to the body or associated structures and the failures seemed isolated to that specific area of the frame.
The resolution offered was to lift the subassembly back to nominal height and insert dimensional tubing in the area previously held up by the 4 failed angle brackets. So I nodded as if I understood the entire process and then I asked the important question... will you guys take a check?
We have yet to determine the cause of the failure and we probably never will. Sometimes, stuff just happens. Things you can neither prevent or plan for. You fix it and move along and take the best lesson you can learn from it.
Once we get the camper home I will update this thread to show the repairs.

PS: and this is the reason we are missing the Western Rally!! Darn...

It's a big NO NO to weld anything to any type of truck frame especially anywhere in the flange area. Cab and chassis usually arrive with a yellow sticker warning not to drill or weld anywhere on the frame flange.

It's actually not a bed weld...the welds are still there.
We think what this is, is just a "tab" to hold the outriggers. It looks like MORryde is taking a piece of 7ga flat stock, bending it to a 90 and welding the ends. If they are heating that to bend it, they could be weakening that section and it looks like it broke right in the middle of the bend.
And they are not welding to the flange...the angle allows them to weld from the bottom of the MORryde outrigger, to the "face" of the FL cross member.

No worries. I had to look twice before I figured out what I was looking at.

bringin this back to life
We have at least one failed and one missing (discovered at eastern gathering)
So in our search for a repair, and reading previous comments we should be looking at "MORryde" specific repair shops???

We too just discovered one of our outriggers by passenger rear tires is fractured and pulling away from frame. Who do we call? Where do we go to get this fixed? Thank you!

Spoke with Dynamax service rep Jamie. He explained MORryde installs these before house is built. Have contacted them and sent pictures, even though we are out of warranty they have offered to fix this issue for us. We live in Texas, so too far to travel there (Elkhart), considering questionable stability of RV, time to travel and fuel cost would exceed estimate we received here for repair.
Will update what we end up doing.

Yes, appreciate the heads up.
Since ours will start being built this fall hopefully they will take heed from the pics and tweak their process.
With way this will be in the periodic check list once ours comes in.

We were able to get an appointment with Moryde. They ended up replacing four outriggers near the rear axle on both passenger and driver side. They replaced the flat stamped steel brackets with boxed tube steel that is significantly thicker/stronger than what was originally on the sub frame. See image.

Hopefully they upgrade their process to include these changes. Especially since our should be hitting production soon “we hope” [emoji3]
Good to know they are standing behind them though.
