AC on Propane Generator vs Electric

We are getting ready in a few weeks to take the RV out and will have some dry camping and will need to use the generator for the fridge and AC. I turned the generator on today and it started easily but then I set our thermostat to AC and went out for about an hour and when I went back in no AC and temp was over 85. Nothing else was on in the RV that I know of. Checked all breakers in the RV and all seem fine. Before I call for a service appointment, what should I try? Have a 2016 2401W and we've always plugged in thus far. Thanks,

Remember your converter is a constant and draws 2-8 amps

Why was the A/C off? Did the generator quit? Was the breaker on the generator tripped?
We had a propane generator in one of our small MH's and when it was above 90 degrees outside, the generator would run and the A/C was fine for a while. After about 20-30 minutes, the generator would sputter and quit. Finally replaced the propane regulator on the generator and that cured the issue. I have since read that these regulators are made in China and the quality/reliability is extremely poor.

The generator is an Onan 3600 LP and starts up just fine. I don't think the AC ever turned on but will try again to be sure. AC works fine on electric. Checked the breaker panel above the fridge but is there a separate breaker for the generator outside? Thanks for any help!

Yes, I'm pretty sure there should be a separate breaker ON the generator, not positive though!

Generator is running just fine but just tested the fridge alone and it does not come on with gas only?

There is always a main breaker on generator, just need to find it and make sure it is closed (on)....if on then maybe your auto-transfer switch is not working properly.....

What type of camper is the gen in? Is the camper new? Have you ever use the Gen set before. I had a camper once that you had to plug the power cord into a socket where the power cord is housed. Later RJD

Is your generator diesel or gas? Is your AC a 13000 btu or a Dom. 15,000 btu unit.
I have read that the diesel gen would not power the Dom 15,000 btu unit, but could handle an Attwood 15,000. Don't know if that is you problem, but an idea.

Btw, check and reset the breaker on the gen itself.

It is a Forest River Forester 2401W on a MBS chassis. We have never used the gen set to power the RV but have tested is coming on since we picked up the RV in Feb 2016 (so yes, new). The generator starts fine but doesn't seem to "power" the AC or the fridge. The generator is a 3600 Onan LP and the propane tank is 3/4 full.

Do you know if the transfer switch is switching from shore power to generator?

I'm not familiar with your coach, but do you have a manual or automatic transfer switch?

it is supposed to have an automatic generator transfer switch but have no idea where this is. I can turn on the generator either from the control panel in the coach or outside on the generator when I take the cover panel off

Is the microwave powered?

If it is, then the transfer switch is working and allowing the generator to power the AC bus. If not, then the transfer switch may have failed.
