Brake Controller Install Coachmen Prism 2150LE MBS

I'm installing a Tekonsha Primus IQ on my 2017 Coachman 2150LE MBS.

It has the FR installed 7 pin trailer plug in the rear. Under the driver's seat I found 2 wires capped with inline splices. See pic. One is solid orange marked BRAKE CTRL. The other is heavier guage, unmarked, and blue with a white tracer.

Before I go ringing out the wires, does anyone know where they go?

I'm guessing the one marked BRAKE CTRL is the "stop light" feed that the controller looks for to know when you've applied the brakes and perhaps the heavy blue wire feeds the brake power output pin in the trailer connector.

PS

I didn't see a green 4 wire plug typical of a Mercedes prep for a brake controller.

I typed MBS brake controller in the search field and found this thread that might be helpful: https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...ll-200562.html

Thanks. I've read that thread and lots of others. No one has ever mentioned that they actually found an FR wire marked "BRAKE CTRL". I'm off to ring out that. wire. I'll report my findings.

The blue wire with the white tracer definitely feeds the electric brake pin on the 7 pin connector.

I couldn't trace exactly where the orange wire goes but it is heading toward the rear. This gives me confidence that it isn't part of the Mercedes wiring. It has power when the brakes are applied. I'm gonna use it for the "brakes applied" signal that the Tekonsha controller is looking for.

In case anyone ever wondered where there MBS battery is:

This controller is taking over the industry, and you can move it from one vehicle to another. You can also store settings for different trailers, or multiples for the same trailer (I.E. Dry, full for boondocking ).

CURT 51180 Echo Bluetooth Brake Controller (PIN: 146428). I purchased mine at Advanced Auto for $229.99 (use their online discount codes) and free shipping. Join their club before purchase and get another $25 to spend later.

Just used mine on a 1,037 mile haul from Iowa to Long Island NY. Pulled with 2007 Chevy Trailblazer 4.3 straight 6 4x4 with 157K. Flat, mountains, highway, side roads, traffic, etc. We set it once and didn't have to touch it!

No cutting up your dash or hanging knee knockers under it.

My suspicions were correct. The orange wire is the "brake switch" that goes hot when the brake is pushed. The blue wire feeds the brake pin in 7 pin connector.

I installed a 20 amp breaker under the seat and ran all the wires to the controller super clean.

It works great.
