Enable backup camera prism

A friend has a new 2016 prism

Backup camera only comes on when vehicle is in reverse.

How do you turn it on so it is a full time rear view camera?

Those two are not the same. Backup should only come on when in reverse. Rear view would be on all the times after a little delay from side view and backup. That how my 2016 MBS2401R works. After all this answers I don't know how to turn it on. One have to play around with the unit itself. Now you are giving me something to do.

If it is the same system that FR uses, just press the ON button on the monitor.

The RVS system turns the monitor on when it senses that the backup lights are on. You can force the system to be on all the time by rewiring that sensing connection so that it goes to a full time 12 volt source. Note that there's already a full time 12 volt source available to the system so that it can be turned on by the switch on the monitor ... replace the wire from the backup lights to a jumper from that full time source and the monitor will be on all the time.

I don't know if the power button still turns the monitor off and on when it's got a full time power source on it's backup sensing circuit...

Mine is pressing the button over the power on the screen where rear view mirror should be. Rear will then stay on and only change with turn signals then goes back to rear on. I do this every time I am driving it on a trip.
