Fresh water tank fills when connected to city water.

2018 forester 2401WS MBS. Does anyone know where the check valve is that prevents holding tank from filling when connected to city water?

It is in the water pump itself (normally). That is why some of us add our own, since the ones in the pump fail quite often.

Bad check valve at pump. Add a new one next to pump. We never use our FW tank and installed a shutoff valve instead. The tank used to fill up on it's own from the day we bought the TT new.

Yea that was the confusing part as the body said holding tank. Makes a difference.

Got it. That's why I prefer gray, black, fresh, etc., instead of "holding tank" which, as you point out, is somewhat ambiguous.

As others have said it is in the pump. Turn off city water and run onboard pump. Many times that is all that is needed to reset check valve.

That goes for calling them black water, fresh water and grey water tanks. They all hold water, it's just that 2 of them have extra ingredients.

Common problem on these units. I have had this happen more times than I care about while traveling. What these people said will fix the issue.

Fresh water tank fills when connected to city water.

Thanks all. I have tried shutting of the city water and ran the pump several times. Still leaking over to the fresh water tank. Will inspect the pump next.

I had a tt 4 years ago that didn't have a gravity fill inlet on the outside of the camper. To fill the fwt, I had to connect to city water and open a faucet inside the kitchen sink cabinet. If I didn't remember to close that faucet, my fwt would fill every time I camped with full hook-ups.

Installed a new inline check valve I was able to find in an RV store. Problem solved.

On my previous unit, a 24R, the FW tank would fill if I left to switch to the water pump in the ON position. It would not fill if the pump was turned off.
