Help! E Break won’t release, on the road!

Hi everyone! Please forgive me if I’m posting in the wrong place.. I am on the Oregon Coast trying to get to know my RV and I put the break down before departing the park today and the parking brake stayed on and I thought it was odd but everything felt OK. And then we got down the road a bit and stopped and of course can smell brakes. The lever went down like normal but it’s still engaged!! I didn’t feel or hear anything weird when I put the lever down this AM.I’ve tried pulling up in it again and back down but nothing! Light still on. Any tricks? I really done want to tow this thing 3 hrs home. Ugh
It’s a 2014 Solera Forest River.

What chassis is it, Ford, Chevy or Mercedes Benz Sprinter?

This is a chassis-specific issue.

Ok...so it's a 10yo class B that is new to you. It seems that something is hung up somewhere, possibly due to corrosion. I am not a brake guy but you might try crawling underneath with a can of liquid wrench or the like while someone works the lever and see what you can see. You could also try backing up and stopping a few times as that might break things loose if it is in the brake mechanism itself. Is this disc or drum brakes.

Again, not a brake guy but asking the questions that might be useful someone to someone with knowledge

generic instructions for lever / cable system

wd40 on all the cable connections + on any lever/pivot point

remove cable from wheel and see if the wheel starts spinning easier
if it does the cable is stuck and needs more work

You can drive home if you can get wheel to free up ... even if you leave cable disconnected

drive slowly ... stay off FREEWAY and check brake temperature every once in a while.
use chocks and pick level parking areas if you have to stop.

once home you can do permanent fix

If the wheel won't free up after cable removed/released
you'll have to disassemble /fix the brake do BOTH sides

sometimes just a good clean and remove rust etc is enough to get them working again

Is your rig Mercedes Sprinter based by any chance? If so, the parking brake is a weird animal. I had trouble with mine in the parking lot the day we brought ours home.

You may ultimately need to run through some of the suggestions above. But before you do, try this sequence with the rig running and with the transmission selector in park.

- Keep your thumb off the parking brake handle. Use just your 4 fingers to lift the lever up. You should feel it start to resist you a little, and you should hear some clicks as well. (About 3 for mine.) You should see the parking brake indicator light up in the dashboard. (If it's not already on given the scenario you're describing.)

- With your thumb still off the handle, use your 4 fingers to lift the lever up a bit more. You'll feel the tension increase on the lever and you should hear one more click. Keep this tension on.

- With the tension still on, now push the button in with your thumb and use your whole hand to move the lever straight down towards the floor. Hopefully you'll see the parking brake indicator turn off in the dashboard.

Thank you all so much for your time and suggestions. It is a Mercedes. So I just pulled up on it really hard and it worked. I think it was just stuck and being stubborn.

The light was on, that’s the point it was stuck on and it wouldn’t turn off even though I had put the lever down. I think it was stuck. I just pulled up hard and put it down again one last time and it worked! Thank goodness.

Moved thread from the General Community Discussion section to the Motorhome section's Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis sub-forum since the OP's questions are specific to a Mercedes Benz Chassis and not general community questions.
