Lost wheel cover advice

I lost one of my front wheel covers somewhere. Does anyone know where I can find one to match? I am not in any way knowledgeable about such things and thought to ask here first! Thanks in advance!

And if you can't find one to match, buy any two and put them both on one side. No one will ever notice!

Hi karter, Is it the original covers that came with sprinter? If it's, at 65 miles/hour that hub cap could hurt some one when it's flying off your wheel. See that is the reason I took mine off.

Any hub cap coming off at highway speeds will hurt someone!

Believe, per this thread, the wheel covers are from Dicor:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ers-86324.html
Several forum reports of wheel covers flying off. Discussion of such in the above thread and links in that thread to other threads on the subject. Several of us tie them to the wheels with wire ties to avoid such issues.

For future reference... A number of us have added zip ties to hold the wheel covers solidly in place. I use two per wheel.

I had to have my axle replaced by the dealership under warranty. One of mine was gone when I got home from picking up the trailer. I headed out to check the torque on the lug nuts and found part of my job was already done as there was no wheel cover.

I just wonder if there is some alternative like a cover that mounts more securely?

I believe that there are bolt-on wheel covers available...but I believe that they are quite expensive. Here's a bolt on set for about $300:

Send a message via MSN to Tiggerdad
Trailertiresandwheels.

I have to buy two for my 16" wheels because part of them came apart. I found the same ones on at etrailer for about $12.00 less for each

Be sure to wipe off all finger prints after you install new ones in case they come off and kill some one.

pdqparalegal, make sure you don't leave fingerprints anywhere on your car.

Thanks, I was wondering myself where to get a replacement cover that got damaged. Also, the tow truck driver who changed my tire broke a little chrome cover / lug nuts? ( I'm not a mechanic.)

Recently we took a 6,500 mile trip around the country. Before leaving I had a local tire store install metal valve stems and extenders so I could check pressure and add air.
Before we drove 100 miles one of the wheel liners came off fortunately at low speed. I picked it up and dropped it off at the tire store before leaving for our trip.
After driving from Colorado to New Jersey I noticed a second liner missing. We traveled on to Maine where I discovered a flat on a inside rear wheel. The tire guru there determined the cause was a cracked metal valve stem that was just installed. Since I had some misgivings about the guy who installed the valve stems I had the spare installed and kept the now ruined tire and rim as evidence and headed to North Dakota.
Everything was good going cross country but as we headed back to our home in Colorado another wheel liner came off while leaving a gas station. Stopped to pick it up and stashed with the tire. A couple of days later the other rear inner tire was flat. Off to other tire store who discovered it was the metal valve stem again.
We stopped at the local tire store who was very understanding and ordered a replacement tire and asked me to research the metal valve stems. I found the one piece mental valve stem with extnders on this forum and ordered them.

Time for Alcoa wheels!

Hearing this story just confirms my desire to be rid of the heavy steel wheels, hub caps, rubber valve stems and install the Alcoa Durabrite wheels and metal valve stems. They look better, weigh much less and no chance of a hub cap flying off at highway speed. Plus I've heard no complaints of being unable to check tire pressure with the Alocoas.

I'll have a full set of hub caps available (assuming one doesn't fly off on the way to the wheel shop) if someone is interested!
