rehash but want to be sure

Hi,

I know this has been discussed up one side and down the other but every seems to give a different part number and I want to make sure I order the correct item.

2016 Forester 2401WS MBS - chassis is 2015 per the VIN

Sumo Springs - rear only. Correct?
part SuperSprings SSR-338-47

Bilstein Shock Absorbers - rear only. Correct?
The literature on their website says for Heavy duty and Camper - is this the ones I want?
If it is then the part is 24-177702?

I have called Bilstein in the past and left more confused after the call due to me to fully able to answer the questions of the person asking.

When I put the Bilstein part 24-177702 in Amazon it says it won't fit my 2015 MBS 3500 vehicle.

Can someone or two just confirm I have the correct part #s?

And don't worry, I am having them installed so that shouldn't be an issue. Once I order them and get them to the dealer for install I can forget all this.I have noticed everyone has a different part number listed and the manufacturer and I can't seem to get our act together.

And yes, it already has a Hellwig sway bar so I am covered there.

I am doing this leg work as my husband doesn't want to be responsible for it.

Thank you!

Note that Sumo Springs has two rear bump stop replacements.

First, the basic rear axle bump stop replacement:
SumoSprings Solo #SSR-338-47Â*| SuperSprings
Second, the more significant rear axle bump stop replacement, basically an additional spring. This is much more expensive:
SumoSprings Maxim #SSR-336-54-1Â*| SuperSprings
Note that these are links to the Sumo Springs / Super Springs web site with relatively complete information. The products themselves seem to be available at lower cost from other online sources.

Consider getting the front sumo springs. Its the whole package of upgrades that made the biggest difference. I started with the helwig sway bar sway improved but still had rolling in wind and trucks passing. Added rear sumo next , better sway and less roll but stiil felt rv plowed and rolled to the outside of turns. Plowing gone with front sumos and steering on turns no longer made the power steering feel too week. This summer drove thru rough roads in the north east and decided to add the heavy duty bilsteins . Now rocking parked nearly gone. Roll from passing trucks ,wind and bumps dampened to one push without rocking. Turns feel tight and much more level. I am done with upgrading the suspension . Overall each upgrade made a noticable improvement but if you are going to pay for the labor , may want to do it all at once. Just my opinion, others may not have found the upgrades as helpful.

I agree
Drives more like a van than a motorhome. I payed to have shocks put on and they installed front sumos
No extra labor. I put rear sumo on myself. I would suspect a shop could put all 3 on for 1 hour labor.

Sandy and Rich- you put the less expensive Sumos on rear right? I just drove 900 miles yesterday across Texas and into AZ in a total crosswind.

Rich - did you have to jack up the front end to put the front sumo's on ? If so, how much do you have to lift it, and did you do one side at a time, or jacked both up and used jackstands ? Thanks !

You will need to jack up one side at a time about 2 inches with the jack under passenger . Can access from in front of tires. Make sure vehicle safe to work. Wheels were not off ground as I recall.

Thanks Rich ! This will be suspension component #4 that I am installing.
1. Helwig Antisway
2. Rear Sumo Springs
3. Rear Bilsteins
4. Front Sumo Springs

I'm hoping that all 4 will make a big difference. The last time I drove it I had only installed the Helwig.

Helwig helped a lot but other 3
Upgrades made a bigger difference
Especially for crosswinds.

Thanks for asking the question cfritt ... We're about to go meet our new 2017 Forester MBS 2401W tomorrow, so everyone's responses have been so informative! Will plan to add all of these to our rig right from the get-go! Any other advice?

I would say in getting the kinks worked out, I.e. Warranty work keep communicating with the place you take it and contact the Forest River service rep for Forester as they have answers to issues that may speed up getting it solved. I encouraged our service departments to call Russ for answers.

Just saw this thread
Already have the Hellwig.
Just a couple questions:
I see the Sumo rear spring described as a "solo", so you keep your existing springs and install one single Sumo as an "overload" or "helper" spring, correct?
I assume I need 2 front springs, so are they sold as a set?
Does anyone have the part #(s) or link for the front springs?
Thanks!

Here's a writeup I posted a while ago:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ml#post1090533
It lists the various Sumo Springs options and includes links to the manufacturer's web site for each product.

Each of these products is installed in addition to your existing springs and each is sold as a set of 2.
