I alway thought having a built in house water filter was a good idea despite the few campers who had problems but no more. Mine ruptured with a boom last night camping. Luckily we were in the camper and awake waiting for a passing shower to end when the housing cracked an blew with city water line on. Quickly shut off outside spigot and grabbed all the towels we had. Went out to get my tools in the bay under the filter area and found 1 inch of water. Opened the access panel to the pump area where the waterlines penetrate and found the slide controllers soaked, one with red and green led on and standing water, one no led but wet. Decided to pull in the 2 slides with success and removed both controllers to disassemble and dry them with cotton swabs and a hair dryer. We were on a short weekend camp at the beach across town so we packed up and went home. Tried the controllers today one working, 1 dead . Confirmed by swapping. Ordered a new one on Amazon , over $350 but could have been much worse if we were out or just walking around the campground.
Needless to say the filters gone now, replaced with a short segment of pex and 2 shark bite 90 degree connectors.
I think it just failed from age and fatigue, we don’t get freezes here
, new gasket in the spring and silicone lubed it before this trip tightening just until the gasket engaged. I always use a pressure regulator limited to 40 psi.
If your unit still has one and your rig is 5 - 7 years old like mine then you have a timebomb for catastrophe. Consider removing it .
