Solar Install on a 2016 Prism 24G

Looking to install 200w of solar run thru a Renogy Rover 20A MPPT controller. I'm curious where people are mounting the controller and, if it is next to all the other controls by the door, how did you get the wires into the battery compartment under the steps?

I plan on running the wires from the panels down thru the fridge vent and then under the stove/sink and over to the panel by the door and mount the controller by the other controls.

Has anyone done it differently in a similar year Prism and if so, how?

With no responses, I guess I will post how I did it in case another Prism 24G owner decides to do an install.

Roof top wires were run down the fridge stack and thru an existing hole in the base of that over the freshwater tank. From there it was easy to remove the furnace return panel under the stove and the bottom drawer by the entry. I also removed the cover to the subwoofer area where are the control wiring is located. Running the wire from under the fridge over the fresh water tank to the area was then easy.

I drilled a 1/2 inch hole up through the floor in the back of the subwoofer area and ran the wires from the battery up through that.

I mounted the controller up about 6 inches on the panel to the left of the entry. I drilled 2x 1/2 inch holes in that panel to run the wires out to the controller. The right edge of the controller went into solid wood at the corner. I put a piece of 1/2in ply behind the left two mounting screws to add some strength to the flimsy 1/8in panel.

The roof top wires have since been secured with Eternabond tape.

Forest River version

Check out my post "https://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/f242/my-solar-install-254780.html"

I found ways to hook directly to the battery w/o going into the battery compartment.

Otherwise, the victron controller had no display, so I just left it loose below the drawer. But otherwise we had some similar techniques.

Enjoy!
