toad behind MBS

My MBS is rated to tow 4200 lbs.

I already have a 2006 Jeep liberty setup as a toad. it weighs between 3800 and 4000 lbs.
but this jeep is in PA and the motorhome is based out of FL. no room for jeep in FL. Plus I need it at my PA home.

last night a 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid followed us home. it weighs 3500-3700. I can set this up for flat towing.

But some day I was planning on selling the Jeep, and my 2011 Ford Escape for a honda Fit which weighs 2500-2700

will I notice any difference between towing any of the above vehicles?

I already made trip towing a 7x14 dual axle trailer running around 3000-3500 lbs and yes I felt it on hills like in Northern VA on 77, but I think it only cost me 1 MPG over running without trailer.

I guess I should just put a base plate on the Wife's new Escape. I could also put a rear rack on it to carry stuff like Generator (if we are going boondocking)

We also have a 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid. I'm averaging 45.5MPG overall running around metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

I plan on having Blue Ox base plates installed in the January / February time frame. I have everything else I'll need left over from the Ford Edge we used to tow. Towing the Edge behind a E-450 based motor home was a 1MPG penalty.

I expect to see about the same penalty with our 2400Q. The only thing that might help is the 2019+ chassis has a seven speed transmission instead of a five speed in the earlier Sprinters.

Hmmm...if I average the Sprinters and Escapes MPG I should be able to claim at least 30MPG while on the road.

Are you using eco mode or normal mode? Hell were just trying to figure it out.

Normal. I have not noticed any difference in ECO mode. Now put in Sport Mode and it is a real blast to surprise folks at stop lights. But the gas mileage drops to the mid to low 30's.

I roll with a 6spd Manual FJ 4-down. It's right at the limit number-wise. Around town, it's almost like it's not there... At highway speeds while cresting a bridge or steepish grade, you're totally aware of it. You can maintain, but acceleration is hard to come on those inclines. Other than that, cruising at 70ish is stress-free. Braking is fine, almost impressive, with my mechanical surge-brake setup (Ready Brute).

I have no problem driving this setup on the east coast, but if I were to drive across some serious mountains, especially out west, I'd get a Renntech tune. Logistics aside, if I were you, running the same kind of routes I run, I'd stick with the very capable KJ as a toad. I doubt you'd feel any difference between that, the Escape and the trailer you've already towed.
