What can we tow with a Solera?

We just purchased a 2011 Solera, Dodge chassis, with a Mercedes engine. Can anyone share some light on possibilities for tow vehicles? I know it has to be light wight. We've always had fifth wheel trailers before, so towing a vehicle is new to me.

Thanks,

Thanks,
There have been several threads discussing toads for the various MBS motorhomes. Here's a recent one (under the MBS forum):
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...is-122377.html
Also, you might want to post under that forum (Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis - Forest River Forums) as that covers all of the Forest River models that are based on the Sprinter chassis. The Solera brand has disappeared into the ether, but all of the MBS units are pretty similar...

Good luck!

Dave

I tow a Smart car. 4 wheels down and weighs 1840 pounds. Used Smarts are not that expensive.

Easily tow Honda CRV, but I believe the 2014 (2015?) model is the last one that can be towed 4 wheels down.

Me too.
Good, reliable Mercedes vehicle.
Hard to beat 53 miles to the gallon highway, 44 city/highway combined, 32 city. Cheap to maintain.

We got a Chevy Spark... 2300 Lbs, and pretty easy to tow. You need to get the stick shift version, which comes new for a pretty low price. We have towed it about 15000 miles, and driven it 9000. I was pretty surprised at how much the tow plate and hitch cost, especially if you have the dealer do the install. The complete package using Blue Ox parts and the Patriot brake controller was quoted well north of 4K. We saved 2K by getting the parts on-line and doing the install ourselves. The biggest headache was that the 7 pin plug on the RV was not wired properly from the factory. Took some extra time to straighten that out.

Good luck!!!

We have a Prism 24G, same engine,etc.
We tow a 2010 Honda Fit, with kayak on the roof, bikes on the back, and use the back seat/trunk area for storage.
I can hardly tell the difference in performance or mileage towing or not.
BTW, my tow packing was Roadmaster Invisibrake. I think I paid about $1400 total, with installation.
I also had issues with the 7 pin plug on the back of the Prism. FR's fault.

We tow a '08 Jeep JK Wrangler with our Sprinter. the 2 Dr model comes in just below Sprinter spec and allows us to go about anywhere we want once there. 2 Dr is not the best thing for 3 or 4 adults as back seat is a bear to get in and out of unless you're about 12 years old

Pulled in behind a guy dolly towing at a campground earlier this year, we both had to unhook before heading to our sites. Had the Jeep unhooked and we were on our way before he had the straps off... four down is the way to go!

We tow a 2014 Chevy Sonic. Can’t even tell it’s back there. We also use the Blue Ox but the Invisible braking system.

Hi Bob and Cynthia,
I've just picked up 2017 Spark with Roadmaster tow system and SMI break on it. It came with 4 pins plug to fit old RV. etrailer has Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Way Connector Adapter. Does this works with air break and all? I also need to install negative battery disconnector. Please advise. Thanks

I was towing my 2017 Chevrolet Spark equipped with Roadmaster base plate, Falcon 2 all terrain, Raodmaster light and SMI break for the 1st time today and it works great. Just put car in neutral, hand break off and no key.
