wheel simulator hubcap off

like many others I had a rear hubcap fall off on my last cross country trip discovered the problem is the rivets were broken on Spring loaded holding clips.
six out of 12 rivets were broken and missing I can’t believe it stayed on at all
A 3/16 drill bit and a 3/16 short pop rivet repaired the problem they fit on nice and tight I don’t think they’ll fall off

drill out the old rivet location with the 3/16 bit being careful not to drill all the way through the hubcap take a screwdriver and pry the holding clip up insert pop rivet and pull it tight until the pop rivet breaks off

I would recommend pulling off your hubcaps on the rear and making sure none of the rivets are missing on the holding clips if you want to keep your hub caps
much cheaper to be proactive and repair them replace at $150 each
only the rear hubcaps were broken the front seem to be fine

I did that on mine and they lasted a little longer. The clips are very brittle and end up breaking. Poor design.

Bit the bullet and purchased bolt ons.

Crossfire valve system

I installed the crossfire valve system on my hubcaps about 10k miles ago. I haven't had a problem, but I also bought and used a hubcap removal tool. And I check the tire pressure and tires at every stop.

If you buy these for your Class C 16" tires get the 12" air lines instead of the 16" like I got. These have been great I can now air my own tires with the 1 valve, without getting on my knees. Getting on my knees is not an option.

NVS, did you replace the rubber valve steps with metal? the factory rubber ones will not hold up to those hoses and will break and the worse time. and with that setup both tires will loose air

Yes my valve stems are metal. One thing about the crossfire it has a safety valve in it so if one tire looses air it will shut off the other tire, keeping it from going flat too.

The gauge is easy to read at a glance and my wife now looks at them too when we stop.
