An RV furnace needs 12VDC, along with factory ceiling fans, factory lights, water pump etc.

So…..do any of these work when your furnace does, or do you turn the battery switch to the other position?

Please use your multimeter to measure the voltage directly across the two battery terminals in these two conditions:
  • Battery switch on
  • Battery switch off
and report both voltages.

The furnace needs at least 10 volts or so to operate. I'm guessing that you are on shore power now. With the battery disconnected, the converter (charger) provides about 13 volts. If the battery is connected, and really low, it could pull the converter output below 10 volts.

If that is the case, and the battery is revivable, just leave the switch on for a while and let the battery charge before trying the furnace again. If you need the heat now, you can delay the charging until you don't need it.

Remember, though, that a discharged battery can freeze and be destroyed. A fully-charged battery can withstand a much lower temperature before freezing.

What furnace do you have? Is it a Suburban?

Normal operation of a Suburban furnace is to start the fans with a 15-second purge cycle (loud blower noise) followed by a 7-second ignition cycle (fans continue to run, soft clunk from gas valve, rapid clicking of spark ignition.) If there's no ignition, the purge and ignition cycles are tried once more. Then the furnace goes into lockout and won't try any more until the thermostat switch is moved from Heat to Off and then back to Heat.

In your circumstance, you have repeatedly shown that the furnace operates with converter power, but not with converter and batteries. The only thing that's changing is the power source. Please give the requested measurements and not your guesses.

Can you post make and model of furnace as well as a picture of the thermostat with cover off? Off hand I would say red and white if they are in the same sheath.

OP, you have been asked multiple times: “What furnace do you have? Is it a Suburban?”. Do you know the answer?
