King Bed Upgrade

Can someone tell me when you upgrade a queen bed to a king. Do you need to replace the entire bed storage box or just the plywood under the matress?

You would probably get more answers if you posted year, make and model of RV you have, since you don't have it listed in your profile.

A queen is 60” wide while a residential King is 76” wide. An RV king is 72” wide. I would think the plywood could be up to 3” short on all sides without much problems. Hope your bed is standard length at 80”.

I think it would be fine as long as the plywood is thick enough. I wish I could do that in mine. But my slide is just wide enough at the head for the queen. Anyway, I think yours should be fine as long as it fits in the slide (if that's where it is).

Don’t know.

On our Hathaway 34RE we opted for the king bed.

Made the area a little cramped. However when the lights are out it is swell. Would not consider a queen.

The board holding the mattress up hangs over the box underneath by about 6” on either side I think. Do not know if it is heavier than a queen.

The supports for the bed and optional premium mattress were wrong sized. Had to go two sizes bigger supports. The DW and I could barely lift the bed to use the storage underneath. The DW can do it now.

Our slide was designed for a king.

Hope this helps.

Yeah that's what I am thinking. My bed is not in the slide but I do have to account for the slide being in, so the bed is not going to be centered.

We took the queen out of ours and replaced it with a residential king with no issues. Still room to get around the bed.

King Upgrade

Our platform measures 65 X 72. We can order a custom mattress to fit for about $418.00 shipped to us. Would rather do that than put a topper over what we have now.....
