Permanent Full Time - Getting Started and finding a place

My Son is about the leave the nest. He is planning on working at a Railroad located in SouthWest NJ near the border of PA. So he could live in either State.

He would like to look into buying a destination trailer and parking it at a site permanently to call home year round for a while (2 years or more).

Those seem to be more economical than a traditional mobile home park.

How do we get started finding a location? Using Google, I find either Mobile Home Parks which seem to have homes already (not empty lots), or Campgrounds that really do not have a lot of info on permanent Full Timers.

Any thoughts or suggestions to point us in the right direction would be appreciated.

Just what you said is what you need to do. Use google for finding mobile home park and start making phone calls. Or use CampgroundReviews.com for finding RV parks and stat making phone calls.

As you know, NJ/PA have cold winters and it can be expensive to heat an RV through the winter. You'll need skirting and will want a larger propane tank to make it work and he may still have to do extra to make the RV livable/usable in the winter.

Start calling the CGs and see if they have any destination trailers or park models already on site that are for sale. I know of at least 3 that sold just within the past month in the CG where we are seasonal.

Park models which look like a house are a lot warmer and can be set up with water and sewer for winter use as they do not have holding tanks for black or grey water. The only down sides are they are not towable with any pick-up truck and remain on one site.

UP's and Down's of owning a Destination Trailer, you need a large truck or a friend who has one. We, wife and I have been full timing for over 15 years, mostly in a 40 ft motor home, we just bought a 2021 D Trailer to continue our life style here in Florida, your situation, I would buy a up scale fifth wheel maybe a toy hauler 42 ft plus. It will be easer to sell then a D Trailer when the time come.
