Ok, now that I bit the bullet..I have a question for the seasoned seasonals: what is a better way to go with the fridge & water heater...electric or propane... cost wise? My electric will be metered & I could get a 100# propane tank if need be. Just wondering what everyone leaves on (if anything) during the days/weeks away from camp. My initial thought is to leave fridge off during the week not there, bring food in coolers & turn the fridge on upon arrival. My fridge cools down pretty fast...only a matter of hours.

the fridge draws very little electric, barely over an amp (when actually cooling), so that minor cost is well worth the convenience of keeping it on. You would spend more on ice bringing stuff back and forth

We leave fridge on and stocked for season - on electric with auto switch to gas if power goes out
Pantry stays stocked too - usually just need bread and buns !!
Stocked with basics and bring what is needed for that trip in small cooler
Our elec bill avg is $50 a month but i have ALOT of lights in my landscaping and a water fountain wishing well

funny thing, the owner of the cg when discussing seasonals said the electric heating the ammonia in the fridge costs more than running on propane....didn't seam right to me.

maybe, maybe not. The fridge is more efficient on propane since it burns hotter. Comes down to what you pay for electric vs propane. Propane varies ALOT, and of course way cheaper with a larger purchase

We have a park model on a seasonal site 15 minutes from home and 12 minutes from my work. We love it and also love to travel. Best of both worlds. The first to go wound be seasonal site. We have metered hydro and rest of fees and 2000 a year.

How often do you go to the cg and check on your unit in the off season?
