When I made my awning poles I used a painter pole and put the handle up and the screw end down. Then I put a paint pad on the bottom to keep it from going through my patio mat.

Neat idea. I just ordered my brackets today. I might copy you but use a sanding pad since it would have a rubber bottom. Or put a piece of wood down with a indent in the middle for the handle.

Very simple solution, just need to tie the awning to the poles and the tie down. The brackets sold here are the most universal solution. I have used them for three years on a TT and a 5er. I have watched others lose their awning while mine stay put. The brackets allow it all to fold up and lock for travel. That is the part most miss. You get the brackets for the top and the ones a the bottom for travel. Less the poles OC offers a complete package. Gheez OC needs to make a video.

While not a video, Turbs did a picture tutorial a few years back.
It is here...

Turbs is just busy with work and summer camping. I exchanged messages with him a couple weeks back, he won't be working on his versions until fall - probably after the Frogtober Fest rally.

Was hoping to do mine upside down like somebody else said but the handle part won't fit in the upper bracktet. No biggie.
How far down did you drill the holes in the aluminum for the upper bracket bolt?
Thanks

I made my own brackets and made them wide enough to receive the handle end of the poles.

Just a bump to remind everyone that I can ship bracket kits today.
Better get them while I still have them as this is the last batch that will be made.

Ah, thanks. Going to keep mine if I sell the camper. Each man to himself.

Don't do that, sell your set with the camper and buy new brackets and new poles.

Now Dad, I didn’t leave mine on my XLR. I kept mine! You made them, and I’m not parting with them! [emoji4]

I suck at anything DIY (just ask the DW), I wish someone offered the whole kit, brackets as well as the poles. I know there was someone that used to make a complete kit but I think they stopped making them.

Old Coot may be able to make you a complete set, but I think that he may have forgot how.....
