Nothing to worry about, the NC state police will stop him at the border. NC has high standards as to who is allowed in the state.

Got to use my awning hold down kit this trip out. I couldn't believe the difference it made. My awning stayed very stable. This is definitely a must have addition.
Way to go Old Coot.

Update: Down to 4 white powder coated kits and a bunch of ready to paint kits left. Better get them while they last.

Kits include 2 upper pole attaching brackets, 2 ss pole pivot bolts (5/16”x2” )ss nyloc nuts, 2 hitch pins, 2 lower stow brackets, 4 pop rivets, (2) ¼” x ¾” ss bolts & ss nyloc nuts (which are the optional bolts/nuts) for the upper brackets, instructions and pole dwg sketch. Price is $75.00 for “ready to paint” kits and includes USPS Priority Mail. Powder coated kits (White) left are $90.00 including shipping. PayPal only. Just need your PP login name and current shipping address. NO POLES in the kit. Veterans, LEOs and 1st responders get a 15% discount if you let me know.

Is there a recommended distance to put the strap anchor from the pole? I was thinking I saw that a while back but haven't had luck finding the post. A friend of mine is using his kit for the first time and I wanted to let him know the distance and why.

Thanks

Put the strap straight down, no need to anchor away like the old style. You’re not tensioning the awning, you’re just tying down the poles. Or at least that’s the info I’ve read.

I would go as close as possible, you don’t want to tension the awning.

X2
. Straight down is good. Why put it any further out and provide more things to trip on.

I picked up a couple of these patio umbrella stands for spots with cement pads. The pole is held tight with the thumb screw and it also clamps down by turning the knob on top. At 25lbs each they have held tight with 25 mph winds. I have straps too but its nice not having to use them.

And with the bracket kits, you don't even have to store the poles, they stay attached to the awning.

When using the Wooster poles do you drill through the bottom to hold them in place with the lower brackets or just use the clevis to hold them from flopping out?

On my painters poles I cut off the threads, drilled a hole thru it and used that on the top. Left the rubber handle on the bottom, drilled a hole through it at the right spot and put the pin through it to anchor the bottom. All works like a dream. Thanks again Old Coot.

Poles

Can anyone give me information on these poles and how much. This is the first time I have seen these and I am interested in a possible purchase. Thanks
