Does your Riverstone ever drag?

Hello,
I'm new here, just bought our unit. '24 442MC Our DP MH used to drag on steep driveways, the trailer hitch dragged protecting the coach. I am wondering if I should install wheels on the rear to protect the frame? Or, am I overthinking this?

Thanks,

John

We have a 2017 38MB and have never had a issue dragging anywhere, but I do try my best to watch to avoid getting in a situation where that might happen.

My 2017 FB definitely drags on a steep approach. I managed to damage the spare tire carrier pulling out of a service station.

I suggest you try to avoid similar situations.

Enjoy your new trailer.

What do you pull with? Is the hitch higher than normal that could lower the back?

Tow/hitch as per my signature.

Trailer is level. The issue is that the spare mount is about 5 feet past the rear axle and at 41’ 9’’ there is a considerable dip when negotiating a steep approach.

Just have to watch where I tow.

We have dragged once in a campground with narrow curvy roads that we were really too big for. Wheels on one side went off the edge and allows the back DS corner on our 42FSKG drag just enough to bend a metal trim piece on the back. Was mad at myself, but not sure I could really do much about it at the time.

Do a search for trailer skid wheels there are several kinds out there, that either bolt on or weld on.

I have the skid wheels on my 5th wheel. The hitch on the rear of the rig has hit a few times prior to them. So I have 1 on the hitch itself and 2 more on the frame in the rear.

Many rvs drag on a steep slope. The above solutions can help.
Even with a mini motorhome, we drag. We've learned to avoid steep grades or approach them at an angle.

Welcome to the forum!

Not a fan of skid wheels. I have seen them cause as much damage as they prevent. There are kits you can install to move your spare tire closer to the axles if that is the low point in the back.

If you drag the back of your fifth wheel, you are usually at the wrong angle to the incline/dip you are navigating.

Longer RVs definitely require some getting used to as to what you can safely navigate.
