Zamp Controller Question

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to electricity, so a basic question. I have the Zamp controller with 480 watts solar on my 38MB. I am almost always hooked up to 50 amp service. Every morning when I wake up, the controller reads 13.2 volts. Later in the day it will read out 14.7 (sometimes during the day it will drop down and read 13.7). Correct me if I'm wrong but does the 14.7 show the batteries (2 deep cell 12 volt) are charging, and the 13.2 shows them charged but at rest? Since I'm plugged in, I don't know why these values would change. Appreciate it if someone could explain these values and what is going on (at 3rd grade level please.). Thanks.

Te Zamp is doing fine, 13.2 is what is called float voltage it keeps the 12v batt at 12.8 which is fully charged .

14V + is required to actually charge the battery , also normal while charging.

You are probably seeing 14.7 from the solar panel .

Be sure to check the water in the batts every week or so if the batts have been discharged and spend a long time at 14+ volts.
