2021 16.8 Power Converter

Hello All;
My Nobo is experiencing frequent 120 ac power fails. Every 2-3 days I'm without power. If I turn. off the 30amp breaker and leave it off for maybe 20 minutes, the power returns ...sometimes. There's no problem with the shore power pedestal. I also use a quality power surge protector. It's frustrating!

I'm wondering if my power converter is at fault. Does anyone know where it is located in the 16.8? My two GCFI outlets do not have reset buttons on them. Is there a reset button on the converter?

OR... could it be the 30amp breaker going bad?

I'm a volunteer in Yellowstone and really need reliable 120v power. The nearest rv shops are almost 100 miles away and are scheduled weeks out. Any help is MUCH appreciated! Walt

I would check all the electrical connections on the main AC line feeding the 30amp panel first. It won't hurt to make sure the other 120v breakers have tight connections as well. Make sure to disconnect cord from power pole and not just flip breaker off.

If all looks good then I would replace main 30amp breake, which are relatively cheap and easy to change.

If that doesn't work get ac/dc clamp on amp meter so you can check current draw on each circuit to find where all your power is going. I bought this one since it does both ac and dc current measurements, plus normal multimeter functions. There's a $ 15 off coupon on it right now just check the box in listing.

Second this

Sounds like the 30amp breaker to me too. I would think if it was the converter going bad it would only affect your 12v circuit and not your 120v. If you're losing all power without the breaker tripping that would concern me also, I think that replacing the breaker would be the first thing I did. Like NVS said, it's cheap, easy and from the sounds of it not working correctly so even if it doesn't correct the problem it should be replaced anyways.

As far as where the converter is located, I can't say 100% because I have a 19.5 but I would think the breaker box should be fairly similar. If it is, the converter is located between the 120v breakers and the 12v fuses, behind the fan. You'll have 3 wires going from the 30amp main, ground and neutral to the converter and from there to the 12v main.

Keep us up to date, curious what you find out.

The converter is for 12 volts . if you're losing 120 do you flip the breaker at the pedestal or in the unit ? what surge protector do you have ? try running with out the surge protector and see if anything changes . or Call ERICK at 1-406-579-5941 tell him Lou said to call and should be able to get to you .

X2... which 30a breaker are you resetting?

A tripped breaker that resets after cool-down could be a bad breaker or too high a load.

And as mentioned, if using a electrical management type surge protector, it could be shutting off current.

We need more information.
