Forest River Feedback/requests for changes

In many products we own, the companies have a forum thread asking for feedback, requests for future upgrades and general use and functionality of the product.

I can't find such a thread for Forest River/No Boundaries, so I'm starting one here with the optimistic hope that Forest River has employees monitoring these forums!

We absolutely adore our 10.6 and all of the awesome things that came with it. The new screen doors are fabulous (with one exception: see below). The roof top tent is a huge added value. We love the size, suspension, outdoor kitchen, and flexibility of this setup. But nothing is perfect, and we want Forest River to hear from its fans and users to make a great product better.

Please add your requests, feedback or suggestions below.

Here is my list after 1 month of owning a No Boundaries 10.6

1) Offer an option for legs supports for the ramp door to convert it into a table or patio.

2) Use the *correct* size Rhinorack cross bars. The current factory installed bars are too long and suspend the awning 3-5 inches away from the trailer sidewall, creating a large gap for rain to fall on the doorway, pantry and kitchen area. Rhinorack has confirmed to me the incorrect sized bars are being used.

3) install or offer as an option a 1-2 inch wood plank which are secured to the trailer framing across the top of inside walls to allow users to hang or mount lightweight items (picture frames, small tools, lights, etc)

4) Use an air conditioner that is quiet and has a low fan setting. The current Dometic AC unit is much too loud (not to mentioned oversized for the tiny trailer) and has no low/quiet setting.

5) Use glass, not frosted glass in at least one window. The newest door configuration in the 2020 10.5/10.6 has frosted glass, making it impossible to see outside when the doors are closed. Alternatively, add a small unfrosted window on the kitchen side wall or add a peep hole to the kitchen side wall.

6) Add a built in roof ladder, especially for units with the roof top tent. The tire step is a nice addition, but does not serve to get owners safely onto the roof, which is required for deployment and packing up the tent.

Floor storage plastic cover too weak

7) the plastic cover for the in-floor storage bends when stepped on and tips when stepped on the outside edge. This needs to be replaced with a more sturdy material and the short edges need supports added to prevent tipping.

Go back to using a real EPDM rubber roof material instead of a cheap TPO that tears on the 2020 Cedar Creeks.

Bring back the 2801QS. The Coachman Concord seems like a step down and the 2801 was the only one with the kitchen sink oriented so that it can be accessed with the slides closed. I hate the overhang on the typical class C. I find cabinets more useful.

In fact make the 2801 long enough for a permanent bed.

This thread is in the No Boundaries sub-forum and about No Boundaries trailers, not Coachmen products.

If you are going to supply a water filter, either put it in an easily accessible location, or leave it out entirely.

Units with ceiling fans (I know there are few) need to have heavy pulls that don't end up in the fan and need to be untangled before using after every tow. Maybe magnets on the ends that will tie them together ?

Put side and transverse bubble levels on as standard. Everyone adds them afterwards anyway. Even with an auto level system.

Maybe, that is one of their problems. When you have a forum with thousands of your customers discussing your product, common sense says monitor it.

Ya, there's the issue! Seems to me they don't have any type of ongoing refreshing of models like the auto companies do, and maybe there is no way to easily introduce new materials or techniques in their lineup. I wonder what the actual production volume is for a given model, maybe too small to evolve a design. Sure, the new front cap was a big change but was probably motivated by cost savings and not by a desire to improve customer satisfaction.

My guess is that less than 1% of changes made are for 'customer satisfaction.'

In over 40 years of owning R/Vs we've not seen changes made that would improve the customers viewpoint of how something is made or works in an R/V. Often times the changes made, makes something bad, even worse.
A few trips to the plant/assembly line met with deaf ears when suggesting improvements/ideas.

It's fairly recent that they have started trying to have reps personally reach out to owners looking for assistance.

Then we also have Brian Clemens who has been a member here for years. But that's only for one division of FR.

I like the Rockwood micro-lite. The dinette table needs a new design. I replaced mine.
The Gensis 2.0 stereo is a piece of junk. I am replacing that next. Otherwise few issues.

Did you not read post #7?

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for....php?p=2164161

The OP posted this specifically in the No Boundaries sub-forum and is asking other No Boundaries owners to respond, not owners of other brands.

Well, that post was in April, and it is now August. Judging by the post since April, I think Forest River needs to revise their algorithms.

How about a NOBO 5th wheel to compete with Scamp and Escape 5.0! Make it between 21' & 23' with slide out dinette and dry bath in rear.

There is only one we are 100% certain of being a FR person is BClemens, GM of the Dynamax line.

Maybe you should change the title of the thread then.
