20cb microwave issue

I just bought a used 2017 and have been going crazy trying to find a noise grom the cabin. Turns out it is coming from the Furrion microwave frame. It actually developed stress cracks on two corners between the microwave and the frame around it. I am looking to eventually chance it out for a convection type anyway. Anyone have any idea which one is not much heavier and small in size to make fit? Thanks in advance.

Microwave Frame Crack

I can't help you with an alternative for another microwave, but we had the same problem with the Furrion microwave in our 2016 Freelander 20CB.

The reason the frame cracked was because the R/H feet of the microwave were not sitting on the floor of the cabinet. They were suspended during sloppy installation, or cabinet construction, thus putting undue stress on the frame and eventually cracking the R/H corners as you've experienced.

I removed the microwave and built up the R/H cabinet floor so the microwave would sit level when reinstalled. Still under warranty, I got a new frame.

We've never had any problems with the functioning of the Furrion microwave itself.

This is just another example of having to fix various problems due to poor manufacturing. It's fortunate that I am a handy person and can fix, and modify, problems myself instead of relying on often incompetent dealer technicians.

We really enjoy our 20CB.

My neighbor had one of those Furions in his two year old 5er. Said it was a POS and never did cook right. He yanked it out and replaced it with a Panasonic countertop/built-in model from Walmart for $136. His wife couldn't be more happier.

I ended up taking out the microwave completely to discover 13 loose screws underneath it! Then I noticed as you say the left side of the frame against the wall was not even level. Guess some of those screws were meant for the frame. Leveled it off and replaced the frame that I should not even had to have paid for. Thanks for the replies.

Cracked Microwave Frame

Glad to know you have discovered the problem and have resolved it with help from us fellow 20CB owners.

A complaint to Coachmen might get you a new frame. It's definitely worth a try, as you won't be the only one who has had such a problem.

Good luck, and keep us informed.
