change out drain

Drain in sink above level of sink capturing water below drain. Wonder if drain was installed wrong or can be replaced and if it's like an ordinary plumbing job?

I will go out to storage yard tomorrow morning and pull a couple of drawers out take some pictures and see how it couples to the sink, hope not glued but anything possible with FR

It was, I got some plumbers putty under drain rubber gasket under sink. Who puts these things together a day worker.
