Class 1 trailer hitch on Transit TS?

Hey, anyone successfully installed a trailer hitch on a Transit chassis TS motorhome? Looking to put a Class 1 hitch on to haul some bikes.

Thanks!

Some (or maybe all) of the Coachmen Transit motorhomes come equipped with a hitch receiver. If you are having difficulty installing the hitch on your TS, you might look at how Coachmen does it and follow there lead.

Also, here is an old thread on that subject: https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...er-156769.html

I believe there was another past thread where a Forest River rep said a hitch could easily be added to a Sunseeker or Forester TS, but when pressed for more information, did not offer any details on how that could actually be accomplished.

Here is that other prior discussion thread on this topic that I had mentioned in post #2. https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...es-212342.html

I finally found a hitch for my 2022 ts2370. Curt #13702, Had to do some cutting and drilling, but successfully installed it myself. I recently ordered a combination cargo carrier and bike rack. I will now have a way to take my ebike with us.

Just to let you know, this is a little over a 2 year old thread.

Info is always good, the OP probably took care of this 2 years ago.

It's too bad I wasn't informed, because I searched on this and other forums without success until I came across this product.

Sometimes, old info is as good as new info.

I'm wondering just how overloaded you're going to be with the weight of the carrier and an ebike on the back of your rig.
We put a cargo carrier and a generator on the back of our rig to transport the generator for a friend for a few miles. Watching the flexing that happened with the carrier made us vow never to do that again.

Please let us know how it works out.

We had a 2018 Rev 24rb before we purchased our present Sunseeker ts2370.

I had a combination spare tire carrier and bike rack for two. We traveled all over the country with it for over 4 years and 39,000 miles without a problem and the Rev has single wheels in the rear whereas the transit is a dually. I do not anticipate a problem carrying an ebike and a small storage box. I don't think you can compare the promaster chassis with the transit.

Sorry. I wasn't trying to compare the two.
I've considered upgrading to the Transit. Do you happen to know the CCC?

Please let us know how that hitch works for you so that people who want to make the modification will know.

The ccc is 1666 pounds for my vehicle, I installed a 2 inch receiver, the Rev came from the factory with a 1 1/4 inch receiver. I don't believe carrying 2 hundred pounds on the rear of the Ford transit will be noticeable just as it was not noticeable on the Rev. Certain motor homes built on Ford transit come equipped from the factory with a hitch. My particular one did not come equipped with one because there is not a unit off the shelf that would work with the placement of tanks etc. I had to purchase a universal fit and do some cutting and drilling to make it work. It was a bit of work, however it looks like it was factory installed.

Hitch for TS2370

I finally found a hitch for our 2022 Sunseeker TS 2370. A hitch was not installed at the factory so after doing some research, I came across a Curt 13702 that I was able to install with some cutting and drilling. I also purchased a combination cargo carrier and bike rack. I am now able to bring my e-bike and some additional equipment on our trips.

Thank you for sharing this information. Will pass this along to my dealer for consideration of installation on our 2023 TS2370 being delivered shortly.

hitch

No hitch is installed because the TS is extended 3 ft with extender rails and bumber is not cut out for a hitch. They probably were afraid if the included a hitch someone would try to tow a car then they would be in aworld of hurt.

The bumper on my ts2370 is actually cut out for a hitch. The install looks like it was done at the factory, no issues.
