And we are still hoping to be able to get across the border to Canada. We have been promised full refunds from the very remote cabins in BC. It does not look good!

When will campgrounds open

Most national parks are open now and so are most private campgrounds.

I'm thinking your main concern should be everyone's safety through this pandemic. Everything else would be a bonus?

Income & Camping

Ok here is my educated guess based on what graphs and projections are available. July people who can and have not worried about money will start moving around In July.

What does that mean for me? I have a home on the water in Pcola that I rent on vacation rental sites. It's on an acre of ground, no crowds, safe, kayak and 12' boat with trolling motor included. Bring your own boat and you can be in Gulf of Mexico in 20-25 minutes. If I can get my house rented regularly,(pet friendly) we are gone to the mountains until the snow flies. I had the home rented almost fully for the spring. Cancellations and closing of campgrounds chased us home. I for sure don't want to get the virus, heart issues, diabetes, and COPD. So not anxious to be stupid.

Keep an eye on my calendar to see if I'm right with guest coming? Nothing like it that's less expensive in a 100 mile radius.

Petrx, County and State campgrounds are closed till 4/30/2020 except for healthcare workers trying to isolate. Corps of Engineer parks around here are closed till May 31, 2020. Governor just made that announcement the other day regarding county and state campgrounds. The parks themselves remain open including the boat ramps. No facilities open.

Our numbers here are still on a sharp incline everyday so the closures could go longer. May have to check the states web site when it gets closer to your camping time.

Upset!

What is really ticking me off is some people can golf, ride bikes, horses and go Kayaking where they live. I have been in the house since the middle of March & now can't even take my dog to the park! They roped it off, If I can go to a camp ground and be away from everyone, if it is opened, I'm going...

In BC Canada the private campgrounds are open. I am a fulltimer and have been in the campground since Oct. This weekend the park is full. They have closed all washrooms so you have to be self contained (no tents or tent trailers). The ferry from the mainland was packed for all the trips yesterday. The good side is most people are social distancing.
Happy Easter and stay safe during this outbreak.

Smile

We have reservations mid-July through August. Keeping our fingers crossed we will have gotten back to at least semi-normal for camping.

In some cases it is dependent on your state. Totally agree on safety and precautions to avoid during this tragic time. In Arizona the state parks are still open. The federal parks including our NP's, COE, Forest Service, etc. have closed. The miltitary parks throughout the state vary. Davis- Monthan open, Ft. Huachuca closed for new reservations, Gila Bend and Yuma area still open for RV reservations. Again, depends and inquiries should be put out prior to trying to gain access. Haven't seen any problem in getting supplies, fuel, etc. for RVers traveling. Social distancing a must and while the state parks are still open, visitor centers, rest rooms closed at these locations so that should be considered as well. Yes, for our country let's get through this safely and with compassion for those afflicted.

Interestingly enough I have not heard from any parks I have reservations at. And we start as early as May 10 in Ontario. I suspect they will contact us and say they aren’t opening. And we also have a reservation at Henderson bay KOA in May. Nothing from them either. But I don’t imagine the border opening up before June honestly. Hoping our east coast trip late August is still a go. That is what we are planning on as our first trip given the situation in NY state. .

We were supposed to check in at Fort Desoto today. The camp grounds open but the beach , dog park , fort , play ground , camp store ect are closed. So unfortunately we did the right thing and canceled our trip. So for now i stay at home and brew beer! Click image for larger version

Your arrogance is unbridled ... how would you feel should your Me Me Me attitude accidentally start a corona virus cluster that sickens dozens and kills a handful? Or has that thought entered your mind?

I hope by August... I have a rally to attend. If not, oh well. But in the meantime, I'm saving some $ and buying "stuff" for the TT. My TST 507 TPMS arrived yesterday.

Stay safe everyone!

Here in GA the state parks are open. The Shelter in Place is until April 30, but of course that can change. As part of the order, hiking, biking, kayaking, jogging, walking, fishing and golfing is allowed. There are no guidelines on how far one is allowed to travel to participate in these. I've looked at availability of campsites at GA State Parks and notice many sites are booked. The Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Lake Lanier were due to open for the season on March 26, which was changed to April 30. Just a few days ago it was changed again, to May 18. We don't live far from Lake Lanier and might try to book a campsite in mid-May. Their sites are spacious and not close to one another. Seems it might be safer to shelter in place in our camper than go shopping at Walmart. We'll just wait & see what happens.
