Will there be any camping this summer?

Just wondering if there will be any camping this summer with all the closures happening around the country?

All these closures are only temporary in my opinion. I hope that like many flu viruses it will disappear in the warmer weather of summer. I have to wonder if this will be like the flu pandemic of '68/'69 that returned later in the winter of '69/70.

All these closures and lockdowns can't continue through the summer months or the world will experience a depression that will make the Great Depression look like nothing more than an economic slowdown.

This all just my opinion and speculation.

I understand they believe the heat of the summer will drop cases. But what about places like South America, Australia, etc. are already warm enough to kill the virus still seeing cases

I think most of these 'closures' or 'restrictions' are knee-jerk reactions from government-based agencies - like state parks. I see no reason that those in 'RVs' are somehow different than those in packed apartment complexes or high-rises where thousands of folks are within each other in a single area. To me, whether you are 'camping' or not, you are simply 'living' somewhere, where ever that might be at the moment.

If they are concerned about public places, like restrooms, then close those, but don't close the whole campground to 'camping' just because....most of us have all our own facilities and don't 'need' to use the parks.

I have reservations in two different parts of the country, one east and one west. So far, they have not been cancelled by either of the CGs, one of them being a state park. Only time will tell I reckon, but when warm weather comes I think it will be business as usual.

I think the reason that government run parks are being closed is more for the protection of their employees. History has shown that unattended state parks don't fare well unless there is some staff supervision. Especially parks that are near urban populations.

In the past I've seen unsupervised parks where individual sites are filled with a couple trailers, several vehicles, even tents and the occupants have chopped/cut down trees next to it for firewood.

Me? DNR and Forest Service land is still open and plenty is dispersed camping (boondocking) opportunities available. Temps are rising and snow is melting. Off I go next week.

I am sure there will certainly be camping this summer. It's just a matter of government run parks and private CGs releasing information that they are back in business. I have two reservations in July in different places. So far I have not received any cancellation info from them. I guess we just wait and see.

Sure, just stay away from people.
For some this will be a new experience.

I've always wondered why people say "We're going camping to get some peace and quiet", then gather in large groups, in often raucous parties.

We have reservations for the Peach FROG Rally that starts June 25th. DW was scheduled for back surgery to repair a pinched nerve March 26 but that has been put on hold until all this goes away. Praying she gets her surgery soon and the rally is still a go. At this point I am not sure she could travel very far without the surgery.

My campground is open to seasonal campers only, but hardly any seasonals have showed-up yet, and usually by now, most seasonals are getting everything ready for the season.

For the next month or two things will be in limbo . once and if this virus thing gets better then things will pick up but don't expect anything going back to things as normal ever . many people lost lots of money over the last month and may not be able to afford their vacations or seasonal spots anymore

My first reservation in on May 4th was cancelled. Made another for two weeks later that has survived so far. This is at Axtel Campground in Rough River, Ky. We'll see I guess. There is already talk of extending the shutdown. This is a COE National Campground.

I expect things will get near normal by May, allowing the month of April for recovery time.

The gatherings are fun. I always said a bad day at home cleaning toilets was better than a good day at work.

We will definitely be camping, just probably not in any campgrounds. We currently have the truck and RV stocked for everything we need for at least 2 weeks boondocking in the backwoods. Our spot is close enough we don't even have to stop for fuel on the way back with a little extra in fuel jugs.
RVing during the pandemic is going to be different.
